10 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do at Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom has so much to do from rides, entertainment, great food, fireworks and so much more! What most people don’t know is that there is a multitude of things to do beyond the rides and attractions. Here are ten things you could do at Magic Kingdom that you probably didn’t know about!


1. Free Water

As you may know, it gets very hot in Florida. If you don’t bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated, it could potentially be a problem. If you have visited the Disney parks before, you may also know that buying bottled water can be a bit pricey. In addition to the water drinking fountains all over the park, you can also get a free cup of ice water for your party from many of the dining locations or quick service locations when you pick up or place an order!



2. Help Decorate a Christmas Tree

Did you know that at one place in the Magic Kingdom, it is Christmas all year long? That’s right! At Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, Disney celebrates Christmas every day. Every morning, one family is chosen to decorate the tree inside the store! In order to be a part of this very special activity, you must be the first family in the store. If you plan to rope-drop the Magic Kingdom, head right over to Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square for your chance to decorate the tree!



3. Get a Haircut

Did you forget to get a hair cut before your vacation? Is your child getting their very first haircut? No matter what the reason is, you can get actually do this all at Magic Kingdom!

The Harmony Barber Shop is a cozy spot nestled right on Main Street USA and is open to guests of all ages. The most popular package offered here is “My 1st Haircut”. Priced at just $25, your child will receive a haircut, special surprises such as “pixie dust” and bubbles, Mickey Mouse stickers, a certificate, and their very own “My 1st Haircut” set of Mickey Mouse ears. Sometimes, the Dapper Dans even pop in to say “Hello”! The cost for a regular haircut is $19 for adults and $18 for children 12 and younger.

*As of right now, Harmony Barbershop has not yet reopened.



4. Get a Fairy Tale Makeover

Do you have a child that loves the Disney Princesses or Princes? At the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Fantasyland, your child can be transformed into a Disney Princess or Prince right in front of your very eyes! Your very own Fairy Godmother in training will help children ages 12 and younger look like they came right out of a Disney movie!

Children can choose their own hairstyle and then add on makeup, nail color and accessories – even a Disney Prince or Princess costume! There are several packages to choose from. The Princess Signature Dress Collection includes an heirloom-quality Princess gown, crystal tiara, garment bag and more! The Deluxe Knight Package includes a Knight costume, hairstyle, shield and sword!

Advanced reservations are highly recommended due to the high popularity of this experience.



5. Get Married

Did you know that you could get married at “The Most Magical Place on Earth”? You can create your very own Fairy Tale Wedding and say “I Do” in front of the iconic Cinderella Castle. Can it get more magical than that?!

Work with Disney Wedding Planners to customize your dream wedding and/or reception. Magic Kingdom wedding ceremonies and receptions can accommodate anywhere from 10 to 300 guests. The lucky couple can even ride in Cinderella’s Coach down a beautifully lit Main Street USA. This experience is truly unforgettable and unique. It is perfect for Disney-loving couples looking for a magical wedding experience. Mickey and Minnie can also attend the wedding for an additional fee.

6. Get a Free Souvenir

Did you know that you can get a free Celebration button at any merchandise location in any of the four parks? Whether you are celebrating a birthday, an engagement, an anniversary, a new baby, etc. Disney has got you covered! Guests can choose from buttons like “My 1st Visit”, “Happy Birthday”, “Happily Ever After” and “I’m Celebrating”. Cast Members will usually spot these buttons and sometimes even do something extra special to help you celebrate!



7. Get Your Driver’s License

Did you know that you could get your very own driver’s license right at Magic Kingdom? Right outside of the Tomorrowland Speedway, there is a photo booth that guests can use to create a driver’s license from the attraction. For only $6, guests of all ages can print off a hard plastic license in just seconds. You will also receive a digital copy that will appear in your PhotoPass downloads on the My Disney Experience App. The booths accept cash or credit so be sure to grab one the next time you go!



8. Pin Trade with Cast Members

Do you like to collect and trade Disney pins? Did you know there are pin boards at merchandise locations all over the park where you can trade pins with Cast Members? Maybe you have a duplicate pin that you’re looking to get rid of. Perhaps you spotted a Cast Member that has a hard-to-find pin that you’ve been searching for. Whatever the reason, they are here to help! Simply hand over your pin (without the back) to the Cast Member and they will give you whichever one you chose from their board.



9. Get Merchandise Personalized

There are several locations around Magic Kingdom to personalize your Disney items! First and most iconic, getting your Mickey Ear Hats personalized. Mickey Ear Hats cost between $14.99-24.99 and personalization/embroidery costs between $3-7.

Another really cool thing to personalize is glassware. You can get custom glassware such as mugs, wine glasses, champagne flutes and more at Crystal Arts on Main Street USA. Need a last-minute gift for the holidays? You can head over to Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe to personalize an ornament! Any of these items are perfect to personalize so the next time you are at Magic Kingdom, head over to any of these locations for your own personalized souvenir.

You can get those Mickey Ear Hats and other things personalized at Curtain Call Collectibles, located near Town Square Theater, and inside the gift shop near Mickey’s PhilharMagic. You can also make and personalize your own t-shirts, Magic Bands, phone cases, etc at Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. outside of Space Mountain.



10. Make A Wish

One of the coolest things at Magic Kingdom that everyone walks right past without even noticing is the Cinderella Wishing Well. It is located on the path that leads from Tomorrowland to the right side of Cinderella Castle. It is designed beautifully and decorated with the cute little animals from the animated classic Cinderella. Not only is this a beautiful spot to take pictures, it also is a magical spot to make a wish. The best part about making a wish in this Wishing Well is that you are helping a wish come true for a child in need as well. There is a plaque on the Wishing Well that says “Your wishes will help the Dreams of Children come true”. Disney donates any money that is tossed into the well to children’s charities in the Orlando area.



Overall

As you now know, there are plenty of things to do at Magic Kingdom beyond the rides, restaurants and attractions. With so many other fun things to do from getting a haircut on Main Street to making a wish and helping a child in need, Magic Kingdom has it all.
