Opened in November of 2023, Big Taco is steeped in history and brimming with a commitment to family heritage. Their Story
The story of Big Taco begins with Brian Wheeler, a young and passionate entrepreneur who, in 1995, turned his Tex-Mex dream into reality with the opening of Tijuana Flats. Over the years, Tijuana Flats soared to over 140 locations and employed a team of 3,000, sparking a taco revolution that resonated with countless enthusiasts.
In 2015, seeking new culinary horizons, Brian sold Tijuana Flats and shifted his focus to Tibby's New Orleans Kitchen. However, under new management, Tijuana Flats drifted from Brian's original vision, prompting his sons, Jake and Gavin Wheeler, to step in with a fresh perspective.
In 2023, after years of dedication, the Wheeler trio unveiled Big Taco. Motivated by their father's legacy and a shared vision of simple, yet flavorful Tex-Mex, they aimed to revive the essence of their family's culinary roots.
