Could Driverless Shuttles Come to Walt Disney World?

When thinking about self-driving vehicles, it always seems like something you’d see in a futuristic movie. Now, it seems like it is becoming a reality, and some say it’s rumored to be coming to the Most Magical Place on Earth. Here is what we know so far about the driverless shuttles.

Beep Inc.

Beep Inc. is a driverless shuttle company that’s based in Orlando. According to the Orlando Business Journal, Beep Inc. will be pairing up with two other companies to introduce their self-driving shuttles across the United States by 2024. Beep Inc will be partnering with Mobileye, which is part of Intel Corp and Benteler, a German automobile manufacturer. Beep will head the operation, Benteler will build the vehicles and Mobileye will oversee the self-driving system.  Since this is an Orlando-based company, there are talks that they will be seeking out a partnership with Disney in the very near future.

Will it Come to Walt Disney World?

In 2017, Disney was said to be in the late stages of negotiating with two manufacturers of driverless shuttles. Local Motors in Phoenix and Navya in Paris were the two companies in the discussion. These shuttles were going to be used to transport guests from resorts to the parks, for instance. Cast Members were supposed to be the first to test this new driverless shuttle system. However, it is unclear why it never happened.
