After a number of teases for the upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World has announced the ride will open May 26 and posted the full setlist of music for the coaster experience.
New music, new faces
Disney has been teasing information about the coaster including the new paint job on the ride cars and a song from the new track list. Images courtesy of Walt Disney Co.
Music recorded for the ride comes courtesy of The Electric Mayhem band and a list of notable collaborators. The first song is a version of Blur’s 1997 release “Song 2” by The Electric Mayhem, which was previously announced. The rest of the set is as follows:
- Born To Be Wild – The Electric Mayhem featuring Camilla the Chicken
- Love Rollercoaster – The Electric Mayhem featuring Jennifer Hudson & Questlove
- Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) – The Electric Mayhem featuring Def Leppard
- Walking on Sunshine – The Electric Mayhem featuring Kelly Clarkson
A list of celebrity cameos that guests will encounter throughout the queue was also released and includes:
- Awkwafina
- Danny Trejo
- Darren Criss
- John Stamos
- Neil Patrick Harris
- Travis Barker
- Yvette Nicole Brown
- Wayne Brady
- "Weird Al" Yankovic
The new experience replaces two former Hollywood Studios rides: Rock ‘n’ Roller Starring Aerosmith and Muppet*Vision 3D, which closed to make way for a new Monster, Inc. land. Muppets fans still get to see Kermit and the gang in a new attraction, which features much of the former Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster elements with new designs and color schemes.
Backstory
Despite the new tenants, the backstory isn’t much different that the previous Rock ‘n’ Roller Starring Aerosmith ride. Guests will enter G-Force Records for a guided tour that ends with Dr. Teeth, Animal, and the rest of the Electric Mayhem jamming in the studio. Last minute efforts to get them across town for a concert lead guests on a journey across Hollywood in a super-stretch limo.
More to come
The ride is among several reopenings and rehabs across Disney's Orlando park properties in time for the summer vacation season. Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat recently returned to Hollywood Studios as part of the Animation Courtyard construction and an upgraded version of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reopened earlier this month in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom.
