Just in time for hurricane season, Disney Experiences and AccuWeather have teamed up to introduce a real-time weather tracking system for park and resort guests. Disney Weather Check powered by AccuWeather is customizable to each Disney property and includes a UV index and pollen reports.

The downloadable app offers year-round, site-specific weather mapping and alerts for Disney properties throughout the U.S. A MinuteCast precipitation update tracks incoming conditions up to four hours in advance. And a real-time lightning tracker utilizes the AccuWeather Lightning Network of global, ground-based sensors and forecasting models.
The app serves the following properties:
- Walt Disney World Resort
- Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
- Disneyland Resort
- Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina
- Aulani in Hawaii
Park and resort operations also benefit from the technology with alerts used to initiate guest and employee safety protocols.

The system's weather features go beyond storm tracking with AccuWeather’s RealFeel temperature reports, combining wind speed, humidity, and sun intensity to calculate how conditions may feel versus the actual temperature. Additional reports include allergen forecasts, a hyper-local air quality check, and a UV index with hour-by-hour exposure tracking.

Be prepared
The Disney Weather Check app is site-specific to Disney locations. Resort guests will need to check local weather reports when traveling beyond the properties and special care should be taken during the summertime rainy season, when afternoon storms are likely.
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. Forecasters are calling for a slower-than-average season and the predicted number of storms varies only slightly for each forecast.
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecast calls for 8-14 named storms with between three and six becoming hurricanes and one to three reaching Category 3 status or higher.
- Colorado State University is predicting 13 named storms with six reaching hurricane status and two reaching Category 3 status (wind speeds of 111 mph). Researchers are also predicting a 15% chance of landfall along the U.S. East Coast.
- Accuweather is calling for a total of 11-16 named storms with between four and seven hurricanes and three to five direct impacts on the United States.
Vacationers are advised to check local updates. Residents can refer to city and county websites for recommendations on advanced preparations and emergency information resources.
