Earthy Picks Vegan Cafe in Downtown Orlando

By Yasmene Warren

Veganism is on the rise, and luckily for those living in Orlando, there are quite a few spots popping up around town that offer great eats. One of them is Earthy Picks Vegan Cafe, and this joint is dedicated to pleasing the palates of those both with and without meat in their diets - plus with an added Latin twist. Let’s check it out!

Getting Down to Earthy Picks

Earthy Picks Vegan Cafe was previously at various farmers markets around Orlando, but recently opened their brick and mortar location in downtown Orlando in August of 2023 - just outside of Thornton Park.

Latin food is notoriously filled with protein, but every culture has its vegans. Earthy Picks is one restaurant off of East Church Street that took the initiative to mix vegan cuisine with Latin culture — and it does a stellar job at it!

Whether you’re a Latino who’s newly vegan looking for a way to preserve your culture in your diet, or you’re just a lover of Latin flavors, Earthy Picks will do you well.

This restaurant is dedicated to building the mind, body, and spirit through nourishing, completely plant-based foods.

They run by six pillars: cook with love, culture expansion, inspired by earthly selections, we do our best, be flexible, and we welcome everyone. Trust that you can taste every one of these motives with every bite.

Come dine Tuesdays through Fridays from 12 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Vegan Bites

When you think of vegan food, your mind immediately goes to greens. This vegan joint, however, is bringing much more to the table.

If you’re coming to Earthy Picks Vegan Cafe, you better come hungry, because this place does not go light with the helpings of their menu items.

Go for one of their bowls, and you won’t be disappointed. You can get the Crazy About You Bowl, the Chicks in a Curry Bowl, or the Earthy Salad Bowl.

We tried the Chicks in a Curry Bowl with creamy chickpea curry, jasmine rice, sautéed portabella mushrooms, sweet plantains, and massaged kale drizzled in cilantro aioli, and we were more than pleased.

Typical of Latin cuisine, you’ll also find burritos and tacos at Earthy Picks. If those aren’t your cup of tea, you could also opt for a hearty lentil soup.

Because this restaurant is dedicated to providing food that’s good for your body, you can also try one of their delicious smoothies. The Get Up comes with coffee, banana, peanut butter, cacao nibs, dates, and oat milk! They also sell beverages like Colombian limonada, kombucha, drip juices, topo chico, or Evian water.

Dine on Saturdays and Sundays and enjoy an exclusive brunch menu with finds such as toasted tostadas, Colombian-style empanadas, and Rawolutionary Tacos.

Vegan Dining in Style

Nestled between a variety of local shops and eateries outside of Thornton Park is where you’ll find the vibrant Earthy Picks Vegan Cafe.

Walk through the door and be met with soft lighting, abundant greenery, and stunning wall art coupled with the sounds and smells of Latin authenticity. As Latin music plays in the background while you enjoy your vegan meal, you’ll find a match made in heaven at Earthy Picks.
