Kelly Park Road expansion set to begin as Wyld Oaks nears vertical construction

The expansion of Apopka’s Kelly Park Road is set to begin in early 2026 as the Wyld Oaks master-planned community marks the completion of infrastructure.

Project details

The Kelly Park Road project is aimed at easing congestion by upgrading traffic signals and adding a lane in each direction. Improved stormwater management and multi-use paths are also part of the plan. Apopka city council this month approved the addition of construction contractor RCS Construction Company after a competitive bidding process.

The road expansion is financed through a public-private partnership with developers participating in the Wyld Oaks project and surrounding developments. Project funding is estimated at $15 million with an allowance for an increase to $20 million if more properties are added. Construction is expected to progress in phases but no completion date has been released.

Wyld Oaks completes infrastructure

The Wyld Oaks master-planned community is celebrating the start of road work along with its own construction milestone since breaking ground in 2024. Infrastructure work was completed during Q4 2025, including two miles of roadways and potable water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities. The installation of fiber optic infrastructure is also under way.

The 215-acre mixed-use development, located in northwest Apopka just off the 429 Beltway and the West Kelly Park Road interchange, will bring 300,000 square feet of shops, restaurants, and retail along with hotels and a mix of apartments, condominiums, and single-family homes. Phased vertical construction will begin in early 2026 on 700 multi-family homes with plans for up to 6,000 units. Plans for a town center and a Main Street district with local retail operators are also in the works. And AdventHealth has committed to constructing an advanced ER to the community with the possibility of expanding the facility into a hospital.

A January 14 event at Wyld Oaks will feature remarks from real estate developer and Wyld Oaks founder, Joseph Benenati, with local officials in attendance. Stay tuned to The Orlando Real for event coverage.
