All About KrungThep

KrungThep is a Thai tea shop located on West Fairbanks Avenue in Winter Park. Its namesake actually comes from the capital city of Thailand as it’s short for Krungthep Mahanakorn.

According to its website, KrungThep offers a “modernity of traditional tastes” twisted into sandwiches and salads.

KrungThep specializes in serving dishes and beverages with flavors unique to traditional Thai cuisine, and you can taste the flavors for yourself every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Tea and More

Because KrungThep is all about its teas, you better believe it aims to please.

Some of the drinks you can order here include a Thai iced tea, a Thai iced coffee, an O-Liang (dark Thai iced coffee), a Cha Dam Yen (dark Thai iced tea), a Cha Ma Now (half lemonade half Cha Dam Yen), a Cha Nom (sweet milk tea), black sugar glass jelly milk, and much more. KrungThep’s favorites include spice apple tea, peach tea, and lychee tea.

Some of KrungThep’s other hot or iced teas include ginger honey, oolong, mercy tea, traditional jasmine, classic green, aromatic rose, organic darjeeling, and pacific coast mint.

If tea isn’t your thing, you can also order orange, pomegranate, apple or lemon juices, as well as soft drinks and sparkling water.

Some of the sandwiches you can get at KrungThep include the gra-pow chicken, the sweet and sour, the tomyum goong, the satay satay, the pesto chicken and more. Some of these same flavors can be made into delicious salads as well.

You can order ice cream, floats, jam toasts, and brick toasts too.

The Ambiance

KrungThep’s outwardly appearance and awkward location don’t make it an immediate show-stopper, and you certainly wouldn’t expect such unique flavors to be served from something that looks so modern. Yet, this tea shop has the element of surprise on its hands and blows expectations out of the water!
