Minnesota-based Life Time, Inc. is expanding its "athletic country club" concept into Horizon West with a location at Hamlin. Plans filed with Orange County show an 86,669-square-foot property with an 84,076-square-foot building at the southwest corner of New Independence Parkway between Juneberry Way and S.R. 429.
Central Florida expansion

An 84,076-square-foot, two-story building is at the center of Life Time's Hamlin property. Outdoor amenities include two pools and the property features 561 parking spaces with an additional 56 spots for bicycle parking.
Life Time operates 190 facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Eight statewide locations between South Florida and Tampa include a Lakewood Ranch facility, expected to open later this year. The Orlando Real toured the Winter Park location before its grand opening in April. Life Time Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Communications Natalie Bushaw said a Hamlin addition has been in the works for some time.
“This location has been noted previously for its vibrant, fast-growing, family-focused community that aligns well with Life Time’s mission to help people live healthy, happy lives.”

Site plans for the Hamlin location show outdoor cafe and bistro seating that are somewhat similar to the Beach Club seating at the Winter Park location.

A planned pool slide also reflects the Winter Park design.

Life Time amenities change very little with each location to ensure consistent quality. Monthly memberships start at $100 for Kids Academy and around $339 for adults with discounts for family memberships.
The Winter Park facility at 1225 Bennett Ave. offers 91,000 square feet of indoor space with studios, a salon and spa, three pickleball courts, “Kids Academy” fitness programs, a café, and coworking spaces. Recreational and athletic pools are located at a resort-style Beach Club along with 10 additional pickleball courts.
Bushaw said the Hamlin location is expected to employ about 300 team members with a layout and features similar to Winter Park. One possible exception is the outdoor pickleball courts, which currently are excluded from the Hamlin plan.
“Once we get through zoning and then submissions, permitting and approvals, we will move expeditiously,” she said. “We’ll be able to share more once approvals are finished.”
Next steps
The two-story elevation planned for Hamlin is also similar to other Life Time properties.
Planning for the Hamlin location remains in the early stages. The Winter Park property was announced in 2022 and opened just under two months ago, so it will be a while before the grand opening is announced. Updates will be posted via Life Time's website and social media when available. But Bushaw says the feedback from Winter Park members is fueling anticipation.
“Winter Park has been so fantastic and (Hamlin) will allow us to serve even more people.”
