Are you torn between spending the day checking out a funky art exhibit or chilling at a local café? Well, at Maya Café Lounge & Gallery, you can do both! Let’s check it out.
What is Maya Café?
Located on Howell Branch Road in Winter Park, Maya Café Lounge & Gallery is the city’s unique little slice of Venezuela. You’ll find this place on the same lot as the delectable La Patrona Tacos & Birria House food truck - one of our favorites for some tacos on the go.
This café was founded and is run by three generations of Venezuelan women, according to Orlando Weekly, and they have made a masterpiece out of an old Goodwill Donation Xpress!
Maya Café features an array of artwork throughout its lounge, ranging from paintings and murals to handmade rugs and articles of clothing.
It’s the perfect place to go for light bites, filling meals, fancy drinks, and one-of-a-kind desserts with a side of artsy sights to see!
You can check out the fun for yourself Tuesday through Sunday, with opening times from 9/10 a.m. and closing between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The Never-Ending Menu
While dining at Maya Café, you’ll find that it has a lot to offer! There’s something for everyone, no matter what kind of mood you’re in.
If you're looking for more of a light bite, appetizers include prosciutto bites, baked brie cheese dip, or a figs salad as a healthier option.
Morning visitors can enjoy breakfast goods such as a variety of croissants, an egg and ham basket, an omelette, or hearty empanadas.
You can also fill up on a wide selection of tacos, sandwiches, hot dogs, and even ramen! We tried the panini with a side of plantain chips, and it was heavenly!
If you’re in the mood for something fancier, Maya Café also sells a variety of charcuterie boards. We opted for a light teaser and ordered the charcuterie cone, which came with prosciutto, salami, Gouda cheese, and nuts all neatly fixed on wooden sticks and presented in a glass cone.
Don’t forget to top your dining experience off with a delightful dessert. Key lime pie lovers can meet their match with Maya Café’s lemon pie — spoiler alert: It’s to die for!
The Atmosphere
Dining at Maya Café brings about an unconventional yet totally snazzy vibe to the Howell Branch area of Winter Park.
As you approach the entrance, you’ll be whisked away into Wonderland as you find gorgeous murals reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland fixed on the storefront.
Outside and in, you’ll also find numerous murals of lovely women throughout the walls — some with greenery growing from it for hair!
Car fan? Enjoy your food and drink in what’s left of a red Corvette inside, and bask in the artful aura that Maya Café emanates.
