Mortem Manor

by Marissa Potts

Located in Old Town in Kissimmee is a Haunted House attraction open all year long! Mortem Manor will shake you to your core if you walk through their Haunted House or experience their Buried Alive Simulator.

Old Town

Mortem Manor definitely stands out among the neon lights! It might be a little bit tricky to find, as it is located inside of Old Town. You’ll have to park and then walk inside the strip mall to find it. When you do find it, you’ll know! You’ll come across a massive building decorated like a Victorian house, covered in lights and shadows to get you into the spirit. When you walk to the ticket counter, you’ll already be immersed in the scary vibes with animatronics and scary dolls at the front greeting you as you arrive. Directly next door to Mortem Manor is their gift shop called the Post Mortem Boo-Tique.

Haunted House & Simulator

I haven’t been inside of the Haunted House yet, but reviews claim that it is one of the scariest haunted houses in America! When I visited, there were people waiting in line outside to go into the house. This stood out to me because it’s a little scarier walking through a house with only your group, versus events where you are walking through with a constant stream of people, and you might catch a glimpse of scare actors too early. The haunted house is known for their live actors, special effects, and animatronics.

Mortem Manor also offers a Buried Alive simulator. Honestly, I’ll probably never do this because that’s way too scary for me! For anyone braver than I am, this is your opportunity to experience being buried alive, and to feel, hear, and smell the things that come along with it. When you arrive, you can see a video on the screen in the front of a man experiencing the simulator, so you can catch a glimpse of the terror that is about to come.

Boo-Tique

I really enjoyed walking through the gift shop next to Mortem Manor. This gift shop was filled with all things Halloween and Horror. Masks lined the walls for scary characters like vampires and werewolves. In the center of the room, a TV was playing clips from the Beetlejuice cartoons to really emulate the theming.

I also enjoyed looking at all of the Halloween Funko Pops, bags designed like jack-o-lanterns, and the board games themed for Halloween classics like the Haunted Mansion and Scooby Doo!

Overall

If you’re sad the Halloween season is coming to an end, don’t fret! Mortem Manor is open all year long for all of your spooky needs. Stop by for a scary haunted house, a Buried Alive simulator, or a trip to their gift shop!

Old Town is located in Kissimmee, an area with fun for the whole family!
