Polk County: Fastest Growing County in the Country?

Latest census data shows that Polk County is currently the fastest growing county in the state and is the top county in the country that people moved to in 2023. In 2022, nearly 30,000 people migrated to Polk County, and 26,000 more residents moved in just last year. And according to NPR, the majority of those that moved to Polk are young families.

So what’s bringing in flocks of families to make their home in Polk County?

To start, property taxes in the county are cheaper and the homes are more affordable compared to Orlando and Tampa current home prices. According to FOX 13 Tampa Bay, the average sale price for a home in the greater Tampa area costs around $436,000, while Lakeland and Polk County homes average at $345,000, making the area more affordable for families and first-time buyers. Lower property taxes add to the financial appeal for those seeking value without sacrificing quality of life.
