PopStroke Review

Announced earlier this year that a new location was coming to Orlando, we visited the newly opened PopStroke in Waterford Lakes this week! Created by Tiger Woods, PopStroke is a truly innovative mini golf experience that has so much to offer including drinks, food, and my personal favorite, ice cream!

The Mini Golf Experience

I’ll level with you all, I’m not the best golfer, but that didn’t stop me from having a blast at PopStroke! Tiger Woods himself said that he wanted to design these courses in a way that brought people together and would be fun for all ages and abilities.

This definitely isn’t your traditional mini golf, I would refer to it as “sophisticated” mini golf. Don’t you just picture sipping tea with your pinky up when you hear that word? Sophisticated in the sense that the courses aren’t filled with pirates and animals like other mini golf locations you might find on I-Drive, but the courses look like small scaled versions of actual golf courses. Some holes even have turf that is white to mimic the look of sand! There are two courses, the black which is more family friendly, and the red which is a little more difficult. We tried them both and they were a lot of fun but definitely a challenge!

Beat the Heat

You might be thinking, Florida is literally hotter than the surface of the sun in the summertime, how on earth did you go golfing? Well, you’re right! It was extensively hot outside, but Mr. Woods and the team really thought of everything when creating these courses.

At the start of each hole, there is a stand to hold your drinks with hooks on the sides to hold your bags. This way, you can take your drink with you throughout the course and keep yourself hydrated. Also, there were huge fans throughout the course that sent out ice cold water vapor. We may have stopped at these a little bit too long… but they felt great!

We also stumbled upon big coolers on the course and were curious what was inside, ice cold towels! You could reach in and pick up an icy towel to cool off with, and shortly after the coolers there would be a laundry bin to toss them into, truly genius!

Food & Drink

There are also a variety of places throughout the location to grab some food and drinks to cool off. When you first enter the building and get your clubs and balls, there is a beer tap, wine, and seltzers available if you are ready to grab a drink right away. Directly next to those was the ice cream area, which was my personal favorite. Here, you could try some incredible flavors like Elephant Ears made with peanut butter and chocolate chips, or treat yourself to a milkshake or float. We tried the Cookie Monster milkshake, made with C is for Cookie ice cream, whipped cream, and cookie pieces and it was so good and so filling it could have fed four of us!

When you head out to the course, you’ll see that there are two bars outside, one on the ground floor and one a couple of steps up. The one that is slightly higher up has games around it, like foosball, corn hole, and table tennis! Both bars serve delicious food in your traditional American fare, like sandwiches and buffalo chicken dip. The drinks were also great, their signature cocktails named after different golf terms like The Tee Off which was made with muddled blackberries, Maker’s Mark bourbon, and lemonade.

Overall

Truly, I cannot say enough good things about PopStroke in Waterford Lakes. We were blown away by everything that the team thought of to make this a really enjoyable and comfortable experience. I definitely can’t wait to go back, more of those ice cream flavors are calling my name, and to practice out on the greens!

Waterford Lakes

Waterford Lakes is a great area near the University of Central Florida for college students, young couples, and families to call home. There are many different activities, restaurants, and shops to enjoy in this area, as well as events at the campus itself like sports games! With only about a 25 minute drive to downtown and a 45 minute drive to Disney World, this area has a lot of fun and energy for the whole family and only a short drive away to more activities and adventure.
