SoDough Square Serves Up Detroit Style Pizza in Downtown Orlando

By Yasmene Warren

If you live in Orlando, you’ve probably heard of or had Gringos Locos or Tin & Taco. Well, the same man who brought these delicious restaurants to the city is the mastermind behind SoDough Square. If you’re a pizza lover, you’ll want to check this out!

All About SoDough Square

SoDough Square is a pizza parlor in Orlando located on East Michigan Street. This restaurant specializes in serving authentic Detroit style pizza, so its placement on Michigan Street was only right!

The founder, Robert Bair, grew up in the Detroit area eating “square” pizza, and since his creation of SoDough Square, he has brought in staff who are professionally trained to make pizzas the exact same way as they are in Detroit.

You can check out SoDough Square Tuesdays through Sundays from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., or until they are sold out of pizza!

What to Order

At SoDough Square, pizzas are sold in quadrilaterals, not standard pies. You can get a small square with four slices, or a large square with eight slices.

There are 10 different pizza flavors to choose from, and some include Boblo Island Blues, Big Mac Attack, T&T (taco pizza), Detroit Rob City and more.

You can also order Detroit Dogs, salads, and appetizers like pepperoni rolls and Detroit cheesy bread.

SoDough Square is always popping, so much so that it tends to run out of dough before its doors are even closed! So make sure you get your orders in ASAP so you can get your much-needed taste of Detroit style pizza!

The Ambiance

As you approach the front counter at SoDough Square, you’ll be met with big city vibes in the heart of SoDo Orlando.

The big city of Detroit mural coupled with pizza crafted with techniques and styles from the city really makes you feel like you’re dining in Detroit itself!

The dining area is shared with it's neighboring restaurant, Tin & Taco, and is filled with tables ready for those who want to sit down and enjoy a slice.

If you’re looking for Michigan authenticity in Central Florida, you’ll find it stuffed in the dough of a SoDough Square pizza.

In just a couple of weeks, SoDough Square will also be opening another location in Winter Park! Be sure to check out their website for all updates!

Overall

New York may be known for its pizza, but Detroit style might be coming for the Big Apple’s brand. While much of this pizza lies in the city itself, it’s great to see such a delicacy branch all the way out to the 407! If you’re looking for a unique pizza you can’t get at every parlor, then SoDough Square is where you need to be!

SoDo District

SoDo is a business district located in the southern part of Downtown Orlando. It’s surrounded by a variety of neighborhoods, parks, lakes and more. Along the streets of Orange Avenue and Michigan Street lie shops, restaurants and other businesses that keep the city of Orlando thriving! Even better, it’s in such close proximity to the rest of Downtown Orlando, and it provides access to highways that will take you all around greater Orlando. Looking for homes in the area?
