The Axe Trap in Winter Park

By Yasmene Warren

Some people like to go to bars and buy drinks when they’re feeling stressed. Others like to chuck axes at wooden targets. At the Axe Trap in Winter Park, you can do both!

All About Axe Trap

The Axe Trap is Winter Park’s first-ever axe throwing venue, and it’s located on Lee Road — ready to bring new, action-packed experiences to the city.

Inside the Axe Trap is The Trap, which is the venue’s bar and kitchen that serves Counter Culture coffee in the daytime and food, beer and wine all day.

Hone your axe throwing skills Tuesdays through Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Axe Throwing

Axe throwing is easy — at least, the lane reserving aspect of it is. The Axe Trap’s website makes booking your axe throwing session a piece of cake.

Lanes are available to be booked for $25 an hour, and you can book different lanes based on your party size, which can be up to 12 players!

If you have more than 12 players, just email or call the venue at 321-422-0522 to let them know ahead of time.

All participants and observers are required to fill out a waiver, and photo IDs will be checked upon arrival.

Dining at The Trap

The Trap’s food menu is broken down into two main sections: food and drinks.

Under the food section, you’ll find cold selections, hot selections and sweets. Under the drink menu, there are cocktails, classics, on draught, bottles and cans, hard seltzers, ciders and wines.

Some of the cold dishes you can get include the billionaire’s bacon, a cheese board, hummus, smoked salmon, rêmēdy board and a tomato mozzarella stack.

You can order hot dishes like a bacon cheeseburger, burger “impossible,” burger “the trap,” flambéed cheese, flatbread margherita, flatbread popeye and the pig, flatbread the meats, porky’s delight tray, spinach artichoke dip, sweet and spicy pork sliders, the 2600, the 2600 tray and TQNOS.

As for sweets, you can get some yummy milk and cookies on rum sauce or créme brulée.

The Trap has some pretty unique mixed drinks, and some of them include a high octane martini, a papichulo, a French kiss, the 32789 and more. There are also classics like an old fashioned or a Manhattan, as well as beers like Guinness, Yuengling, Blue Moon and more. For seltzers and ciders, you can get the basic such as High Noons, Truly's, Red Bulls and more. There are also wines like Black Oak merlot, Maso Canali pinot grigio, Carson Scott pinot noir, Zonin prosecco and many more.

The Vibes

As soon as you walk into the Axe Trap, you’re met with a very industrial but modern scene.

The open ceilings make the space seem a lot larger than it actually is with the axe throwing targets on one side and a lounge on the other and a long bar in between.

There are cozy sofas for you and your friends to sit back and relax on, a TV to channel surf, and even a strip pole to strut your stuff on!

One thing that sets the Axe Trap apart from other axe throwing venues is its 1,200 square foot outdoor deck that is available to be rented privately or enjoyed as part of the whole venue.

Whatever it is you’re looking to do at the Axe Trap, you’ll definitely have a fun time doing it.

Whether you’re throwing back some drinks or throwing an axe, you’re sure to leave all your stress behind at the Axe Trap. Next time you’re in Winter Park, be sure to stop by and check it out.
