Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen

One of the first things you’ll see towering between Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure is The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen. A fever dream that has perfectly melded the chocolaty candy fantasy of Willy Wonka, and the grungy vibes of steampunk culture. This spot has grown to be one of my favorites within Universal city walk for dining, drinks, and treats!

Aesthetic & Treats

When you walk in, you’re surrounded by browns and golds, pipes running throughout the storefront and beyond, and theming that matches the steampunk aesthetic. But the first thing you’ll be drawn to is the massive assortment of gourmet chocolates and sweets located at the front of the store. If you have a sweet tooth, your prescription can easily be filled with an endless array of options to choose from.

Dining

No matter what mood you’re in, you can find something that will match your palette at Toothsome. Apps, Soups, Salads, Flatbreads, Sandwiches, Burgers, Pasta, Entrees, and all day brunch… I’m out of breath going through this expansive menu! With comfortable seating on the top and bottom floors and two full bars located upstairs and outside, you can get just about anything your little heart desires!

Appetizers

How about starting off with totchos! These plump potatoey delights are perfectly cooked and covered in spicy green chili, crispy pork belly, andouille sausage, and queso. Or maybe you’re feeling like Brussel sprouts? These little green morsels are perfectly charred and covered in jalapeño mayo, cotija cheese, and ancho chili powder. Hands down the best brussel sprouts I’ve ever had.

Drinks

My favorite drink has to be the Wicked Cherry! Mount Gay Black Barrel rum, cherry Heering liqueur, crème de framboise, and chocolate bitters mixed for a delicious delicious treat. It’s small, but it packs a punch! If you’re feeling something a little more tart, try Violette’s Dream. With Big Gin, crème de violette, lemon juice, and grapefruit juice. This is a nice and fruity well rounded cocktail.

Entrees

I’ve been to Toothsome at least 5 times and I cannot stop eating the Chicken Bercy. Two boneless chicken breasts rest on a pillowy cloud of mashed Yukon Gold potatoes and wonderfully seasoned asparagus. Covering this gourmet dish is a cravable white wine demi glaze that adds a burst of flavor to every bite. You just can’t stop eating!

Or maybe you’re feeling a sandwich? This southern fried chicken BLT has a buttered bun that’s been toasted to a T but within these sliced toasty goodness is the real treat. Crispy boneless chicken breast, tomatoes, butter bibb lettuce, bacon, and mustard aioli. You can’t go wrong with a classic like this.

Dessert

There is no question, if you go to Toothsome you have to get a milkshake. 13 signature shakes are calling your name and you can’t go wrong with any of them. I’d go for the strawberry cheesecake. Sour cream ice cream, cheesecake, graham crackers, whipped topping, and a chocolate dipped strawberry.

If you like chocolate mousse, try the Classic French Chocolate Mousse. It’s a smooth and airy mousse with a rich chocolate flavor. It’s topped with a gear in chocolate dust to give you that steampunk feel.

Conclusion

Whether you’re just going out for a scrumptious dessert date, having a night out with family for dinner, or having a drink and catching up with friends, Toothsome is right for you. No matter the age or flavor palette, toothsome has something for everyone.
