4 Treats to Stay Cool This Summer at WDW

By Holley Long

Going outside during summertime in Orlando always seems like a good idea—until you feel the sun. Floridians are well acquainted with warmth, but during this season the heat and humidity become a full-fledged monster.

If you’re going to be out and about this summer, make sure you drink plenty of water and eat snacks to keep your energy up. And, if you plan on spending days at Walt Disney World, stay even cooler for the summer with treats across the parks. Below, we’ve highlighted a few of our faves.

Joffrey’s Key Lime Cold Brew (EPCOT)

I don’t know about you, but when I have an early start at a Disney theme park, I need coffee, STAT. Luckily, there’s no shortage of Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company carts to grab a caffeinated beverage from, and at EPCOT, Flower and Garden Festival inspired drinks are on the menu.

Walk through the World Showcase to The American Adventure and you’ll find the Joffrey’s stand offering the Key Lime Cold Brew. The French Roast is infused with key lime and white chocolate flavors, topped with a splash of cream, whipped cream, and graham cracker crumbs. It’s deliciously sweet, and it gives you that boost of energy you need to get through a busy day at Disney.

Night Blossom (Animal Kingdom)

Over in Animal Kingdom’s Pandora - The World of Avatar, you’ll find beautiful scenery, incredibly immersive experiences…and super long lines. While you wait to enjoy rides like Avatar Flight of Passage or Na’vi River Journey, you’ll need something refreshing to quench your thirst.

So before hopping in the queue, head to Pongu Pongu Lounge for a Night Blossom. The frozen beverage layers apple and pear limeade, making a colorful concoction, and it’s topped with fruity Boba Balls for an extra touch. It’s almost too pretty to drink, but hey, you need to stay hydrated.

Blue and Green Milk (Hollywood Studios)

This one may give you pause. Milk? On a hot Florida day?? But trust me on this: the Blue or Green Milk at Hollywood Studios’ Galaxy’s Edge is one of the most refreshing beverages I’ve ever had at the parks.

The plant-based drink is a mix of coconut and rice milk, and the blue and green options feature different flavors of fruit. The Green Milk is more citrus-y and tropical, while the Blue Milk has a berry taste. They have a slushy-like texture, and either one is perfect for summer strolls through the Star Wars inspired land. Just watch out for a milk mustache!

I Lava You Float (Magic Kingdom)

This cannot be overstated: the I Lava You Float at Magic Kingdom is one of the BEST cool treats at Walt Disney World. Available at Sunshine Terrace in Adventureland, the float includes strawberry soda with passion fruit flavoring, orange DOLE Whip, and a topping of popping candy.

Not only do all of these flavors make for a delicious beverage, but the popping candy makes it a fun one, too. Hearing the funny sounds made by the candy is just what your family needs during an afternoon snack break to boost morale (because, let’s face it, by mid-day at a Disney park, tensions are high).

Overall

Summer days at Walt Disney World are nearly guaranteed to be hot ones, so between bottles of water, check out one of these treats to beat the heat. If none of these appeal to you or your family, don’t worry—Disney is not lacking in the sweet and cool snacks department.
