5 Family-Friendly Mini Golf Courses in Orlando

By Holley Long

Do you have friends or family coming to visit and need something fun to do? Look no further than mini golf! It’s a popular vacation pastime for a reason, and Orlando has some of the best courses in the world. Read on to learn a bit about our favorites.

Winter Summerland Miniature Golf

Disney’s theming is always top-notch, so it’s no surprise that the golf course located at Walt Disney World Resort immerses you in a wonderland of snow, sand, and Santa. Designed as a “vacation destination” for Santa Claus and his off-duty elves, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf has two 18-hole courses to play.

On the Summer Course, you’ll enjoy putting around palm trees, sandcastles, and surfboards while also checking out holiday decor like ornaments, a melting snowman, and even Santa himself, napping in the sand. Over on the Winter Course, you’ll find yourself surrounded by snow—in Florida!—along with obstacles including giant peppermints, hockey sticks, and an ice castle.

No matter which course you choose, though, you’ll end up at the North Pole, and you’ll get to hear a special message from Santa after sinking the last putt!

Citywalk’s Hollywood Drive-In Golf

At Universal Studios, you can “ride the movies,” and at Hollywood Drive-In Golf, located at Universal CityWalk, you can actually PLAY the movies! The drive-in theater-inspired mini golf course lets you putt around on two family-friendly courses based on vintage horror and sci-fi movie themes. Think aliens, cemeteries, giant space worms, haunted houses…you get the idea.

You can play a single-feature on just one course or go for the double-feature to experience both. But pro tip? Play at night, when neon lighting gives the courses a cool glow. And, with the theming, a late night mini golf game is sure to provide a spooky, but super fun, time for everyone in your group.

Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf

Another Disney mini golf experience, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf is based, of course, on the animated classic Fantasia. There are two 18-hole courses to play, with the Gardens definitely better suited for families and children. Scenes from the movie come to life on the course, with music symbols, twirling snowflakes, and water-spraying broomsticks providing fun obstacles to overcome.

Up for a challenge? The Fairways looks like a shrunk-down regular golf course, complete with sloping greens, water hazards, and sand traps. Put your golfing skills to the test, and if you get frustrated—this course is known to be one of the hardest mini golf courses in the world—just look up at the backdrop of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resort and remember, this is all for fun.

Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf

Are ye ready for an adventure, mateys? Located on I-Drive, Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf lets families test their skills on courses inspired by 18th century buccaneers. Putt through sunken ships, cascading waterfalls, pirate dungeons, and more.

Greenery and the small bodies of water surrounding the courses really immerse you in the pirate’s life during your games (just be sure to keep an eye out for any unfortunate souls who had to walk the plank).

Hawaiian Rumble Adventure Golf

Real-life Hawaiian paradise might be a plane ride away, but you can grab a taste of it at Hawaiian Rumble Adventure Golf. The courses are devoid of the funny obstacles at the other mini golf locations on this list, but that just means you can relax, focus on your putting, and enjoy the lush island scenery and sounds.

And, after you’ve gotten your fill of golf, you can walk over to Larzland Amazing Emporium. Billed as Orlando’s most unique gift shop, it has fun and funky decor pieces in stock, like movie posters, vintage tin signs, retro candy, and other things you didn’t know you needed in your life.

Overall

Mini golfing brings everyone together, creates a friendly competition, and gets everyone laughing at the quirky decor. Whether it’s date night, family fun night, or a casual reunion with friends, check out one of these venues for a fun time!
