Located on I-Drive, Abstract Orlando is a place where you can let your creativity shine and dive into a world of color. Through Abstract Orlando’s art classes, guests can choose to create a personal art piece for their wall. You also have the option to design a cheese board for the coffee table, or even a decorative heart or Mickey shaped accent piece. All of this while learning abstract techniques, and sipping on wine or beer.
Art Classes
Currently, Abstract Orlando is offering fluid art classes, which are available Tuesday-Sunday with classes ranging between 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. In these classes, art mentors guide you through the essence of creating abstract art, teaching you what abstract art is, and a range of techniques to achieve different effects on your canvas.
Speaking of canvas, you can create more than just art for your wall at Abstract Orlando. While the cost of the class includes an 8 x 10 canvas for you to use, you have the option to upgrade to other canvases. You have the choice of a larger canvas, a cheese board in either a rectangle or circle, a Mickey or Minnie head (which they are hoping to make pin boards one day), or a heart shape. We went for the included 8 x 10 canvas. However, the class was so much fun I can’t wait to go back and make a cheese board!
After selecting your canvas, its time to choose colors. There is a list of pre-selected colors that have proven to work well together, or you can go wild and make your own choice of 5 colors to experiment with. There is also the option to add leafing of gold, rose gold, silver, and more to your art, as well as crystals to add some dimension.
Abstract Creations
Now for the fun part: creating the art! This was such a unique experience from using a paint brush. In this class you use your breath, your hands, toothpicks, and torches to create your art. There are so many different techniques!
Throughout the class we had an instructor working with us one on one, so there was no fear in trying something new and having fun with different choices and mediums. As someone who is super indecisive and a little bit of a perfectionist, I found comfort in being able to easily fix some of my mistakes. It also allowed me to just let loose for a while because abstract art can be whatever you want it to be!
Drinks & Painting
There are a variety of beverages to enjoy while you create your art, and in my humble opinion nothing gets the creative juices flowing like a glass of wine. There was also beer to choose from, as well as non-alcoholic beverages like coffee, tea, and capri-suns.
Overall
For a unique date night, bachelorette party activity, or just to get away from the parks for a little bit on your trip to Orlando, Abstract Orlando is a super fun and innovative place to visit. With beverages to enjoy while you create your masterpiece, a one on one instructor guiding you through, and so many different ways to add color to your canvas, you’ll walk out feeling like Picasso from this quaint art studio on I-Drive.
