Blizzard Beach Now Featuring Frozen Theming

by Jessica Hristov

Blizzard Beach has been undergoing a hefty refurbishment since January 2022. Many speculated that it would be a regular refurbishment or that it was being rethemed due to its over 10-month long closure. However, Blizzard Beach reopened this past Sunday (November 13, 2022), with select parts of the popular water park now Frozen themed!

Frozen Areas

Frozen is now part of the Tike’s Peak kid’s area. Some of the notable changes include statuettes of Olaf and his snowgie friends in the warm wading pool, and Anna and Elsa have an igloo castle there as well!

Blizzard Beach’s theme has been largely unchanged since it opened in 1995. As you may know, Blizzard Beach is themed around a freak snowstorm in Florida. Since it’s…well…Florida and it’s very hot here, the snow started melting, creating snowless ski jumps and chair lifts. The “ski jumps” became water slides, the creek of melted snow became a lazy river, and so on.

New Treats

There are also some new holiday-themed foods, featuring an Orange Bird DOLE Whip cone and Peppermint Milkshake, including returning favorites.

Holiday Overlay

From November 13 to December 31, 2022, Blizzard Beach will have a holiday overlay. There will be many limited-time holiday offerings including holiday-themed treats, “snowfall”, and holiday themed inner tubes. Guests of Blizzard Beach can add even more holiday joy to their day because they can meet a tropical-dressed Santa Clause!

Overall

This seems like it will be a great change for Blizzard Beach. With the immense popularity of Frozen, and the way it perfectly fits into the theming of this park, I’d say that Disney hit a home run with this change. It will also be fun to visit during the holidays. I mean, who wouldn’t want to meet a tropical-dressed Santa?! It’s the ultimate Florida experience. For more info on Blizzard Beach and to purchase tickets, click here.
