Boxi Park in Lake Nona

By Chase Farmer

The next time you’re in Lake Nona, be sure to make time to experience Boxi Park. This park consists of multiple upscale restaurant concepts ranging from chicken, lobster rolls, to tacos and craft beer. There is a spot for everyone here! What sets this place aside from everywhere else is the restaurants are running out of old shipping containers!

Boxi Park is a part of Tavistock Restaurant Collection, which is an upscale dining hub that supports and runs restaurants all across the United States. The goal here is to use Boxi Park as an incubation spot for new restaurants, in hopes of giving them bigger & better forever homes in the Orlando area. Exercising the opportunities for growth is what Tavistock is all about! This location is 30,000 sq feet and houses 8 different stands with tons of outdoor seating. It’s family and pet friendly, and makes for the perfect day out.

Let’s talk about options! Here’s a list of what restaurants you can choose from:

Food and Snacks

Canonita Street Taqueria:

What food market would be complete without tacos? Stop here for my favorite Chorizo taco with a chimichurri sauce of your dreams! They also offer other must-haves like quesadillas, and of course fresh salsa & guacamole.

Before it Melts:

Here you can cool off with some soft serve! Although there are 5-6 flavors including a different special daily flavor, it seems the exotic fruit surprise is the most loved here! Try the vanilla soft serve with passion fruit, mango, coconut flakes and meringue shards.

Claw and Order:

First of all, best name for a lobster roll place, ever. Find new England style rolls & delicious appetizers like the shrimp tempura or crispy shiitakes & brussels sprouts!

Fowl Play:

Yet another classic name! You guessed it, chicken! This place was highly recommended to me and I 100% understand why. Fried chicken, in pretty much any way you’d like it! They offer chicken sandwiches, wraps, and salads. I’d say #1 item for me is the El Torero, which is crispy fried chicken, tomato, roasted garlic aioli, fried potatoes, pickled banana peppers. 10/10.

The Grill Next Door:

This place I did not get to try, but have been told it’s totally worth it! TGND offers 6 different style burgers (and 1 kids order) and has been praised for it’s Boujee Lucy patty which consists of deep fried American cheese, house cucumbers, shaved lettice, mushroom relish and it’s own Boxi sauce. They also have a “beyond meat” option for our vegetarian/vegan friends! Most of the time, this container has the longest line so if you’re looking to grab a burger here, prepare for a bit of a wait.

Soto Hand Rolls:

Soto offers authentic Japanese appetizers and rolls! Another 10/10 for this place from me. Fast service and really fresh ingredients make this one of the best spots in Boxi Park. I definitely recommend the spicy edamame to start and 3 hand rolls for 15 bucks to share with friends! Pick between chicken katsu, spicy tuna, avocado, shrimp, pork and classic philly rolls! Don’t forget the sake!

Drinks of All Kinds

Barnona:

Here you can find a huge menu of drinks ranging from IPAs, to kegged cocktails (I didn’t even know that was a thing until I saw this menu) to delectable wines, all the way to Florida staples like white claws and Modelos.

Hops and Vine:

Another great stop for drinks, big variety of beer, wines and specialty cocktails. I had looked online to see people really raving over the Red Apple Sangria, but chose to try the Pink Sangria. Super refreshing and simple, with strawberry, lemon, rosé wine, gin, and sparkling water.

La Cajita:

After stopping at Canonita, you have to grab a margarita from La Cajita! There are four different kinds, ranging from $10- $14 and every one of them tastes absolutely delicious. Fan favorite of my group was the Flo’rita, it’s hornitos plata tequila, orange liqueur, lemon, orange and pineapple.

Visit Boxi Park for a day out with the family, date night, or even events! You can host them as well if you’re looking to impress your work family!
