If you’ve never been to the EPCOT World Showcase, now is the time as we welcome back all of the cultural representatives in each of their respective countries. One of the coolest things was that there were Cast Members who worked in their home country within the showcase. The knowledge, friendliness and overall presence of these cultural representatives is second to none. This makes experiencing each country in the EPCOT World Showcase that much more real and unique!

Disney surprised fans with an announcement on their Disney Programs Instagram recently. They stated that the International program (which employs cultural representatives at EPCOT) will be returning in phases for select countries this summer. In March 2020, the program was paused when the parks closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This is just one of the many Disney Parks programs that this happened to during this unprecedented time.

Disney will be welcoming its first group of participants in August. However, the first countries that Disney is recruiting participants will be from Germany, Italy, Norway, France, the UK, and Canada.
Announcement From Disney
The announcement from Disney began with an exclamation of the news. “The Disney Cultural Representative Program is returning!” Just these words alone give us a sign that the world is slowly returning back to what it once was.
However, the program will return in phases. Disney will offer 2020 program participants, whose time was shortened or canceled, the opportunity to reapply. All participants from a 2020 program received an email recently informing them of their current status and next steps.

Overall
This is great news for all EPCOT and World Showcase fans alike! It just wasn’t the same without the cultural representatives. The Cast Members who filled in did an excellent job and were so pleasant and helpful. However, it will be great to welcome back the international participants as they teach us and share about their home countries.
