Disney Genie+ Adds New Rides Through August 7th

As many of you know, Disney Genie and Disney Genie+ replaced FastPass back in October 2021. Disney Genie+ is very similar to FastPass in that you use it to make ride selections. There is a daily cost of $15 per person to use the Disney Genie+ service. With this, you can only make one ride selection at a time throughout your visit. Though many of our favorite rides were included in the app, the bigger and more popular rides at each park were not. These were instead available for an additional fee using Individual Attraction Selection. However, during peak times there have been some popular rides that were moved from pay-per-ride to the Disney Genie+ selection list.

Holiday Season Bonus

During the busy holiday season, Disney delighted guests with an announcement. One ride from each park on the Individual Attraction Selection would be included in Disney Genie+ instead of paying the per ride fee. The four rides that moved were Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom, Frozen Ever After at Epcot, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios and Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom.

Back Again!

In February 2022, Disney announced that once again, for a limited time, a few pay-per-rides are moving to Disney Genie+! Starting on February 25, 2022, three popular rides will be added to the list and staying through August 7, 2022! The rides making the move this time are Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom, Frozen Ever After at Epcot, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Hollywood Studios. Noticeably missing this time, is one of the two Individual Attraction Selections from Animal Kingdom. It is unclear if Expedition Everest will be joining this list again once its lengthy refurbishment finishes in April 2022.

Overall

It seems that Disney has been making these rides available during the park’s busiest seasons: the holiday season, spring break and summer break. This gives guests more of an incentive to purchase Disney Genie+. There’s no denying that having more rides included on the list is a great thing and makes it more worthwhile.
