Real estate buyers looking for a slice of local history are in luck as Mount Dora’s William Watt House, aka the Grandview Bed and Breakfast, is on the market and listed by Bree Tucker of The Pozek Group for $1.675 million.
Built in 1906, the residence at 442 E 3rd Ave. is close to boutiques, restaurants, and galleries, but its true value lies in its state of preservation.
History

William Watt hailed from Massachusetts and introduced corrugated cardboard as a citrus packaging medium. He built the main residence as a winter home and its original features have been carefully preserved by all of its owners. Additional accommodations have been added over the years and treated with equal care. The properties currently span 6,460 square feet and include a total of seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
Grandview Bed and Breakfast observes sustainable practices that minimize environmental impact by conserving energy, water and waste.
Main house
A Cypress porch was constructed with wood from the local mill and leads to the 3-bedroom, 3-full bathroom and 1-half bathroom main home. The inviting ambiance is highlighted by original yellow heart pine floors, custom millwork, built-in bookcases, and two fireplaces.

The remodeled kitchen features historically-inspired cabinetry, spacious countertops, and upgraded stainless steel appliances. The dining room overlooks the wrap-around porch, pool, and extended patio. The second floor features more historic charm, such as original light fixtures and cedar closets. Bedrooms overlook the pool and patio and feature sunset views.

Windmill Cottage
Brick pavers lead beyond the main residence to the 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom Windmill Cottage. Juniper white cedar vaulted ceilings, French doors, and bamboo floors accent the 1930’s landmark and the original frame remains intact.

Carriage house
The carriage house was built in 1996 and offers a ground-level guest suite with its own private entrance. The upstairs features a bedroom, living room, full kitchen and full bathroom, all with original bamboo flooring.

The building features a 3-car garage, and is steps away from the large outdoor parking area. Its outdoor spaces are situated around the private saltwater pool.

The main home and the windmill cottage are turn-key furnished and the property is just 45 minutes from Disney, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and Orlando International Airport.
