Horizon West

Minutes away from the backside of the Magic Kingdom, Horizon West lies in what was once acres upon acres of orange groves. A master planned community separating the area into 6 “villages,” it was conceptually designed as a space where all of the necessities of everyday life were within walking distance. Today around 40,000 residents call it home with hundreds more projected to be added by the end of the year thanks to various new construction projects.

Where is it?

5 miles from Disney property lies one of the newest and most sought after areas for those looking to be in an up and coming area close to Disney. Nestled among Winter Garden to the North, the lakes of Windermere to the East and Disney to the South, Horizon West is located along the 429 and covers about 38 square miles.

What is there to do?

While most of Horizon West is just starting to build up, so much is in store for this little community. It already has the standard stores you see in most areas around central Florida such as a Publix, an AMC theatre and Starbucks, but currently under construction are a ton of new restaurants and store fronts. Ford’s Garage, local brewery Home State and so many more will be making their debut within the next year. Rumor has it that an indoor food hall featuring a rooftop bar will also be making an appearance shortly, but we’ll have to stick around to find out!

How far is it from the other Central Florida attractions?

Being so close to Disney, most residents can see nightly fireworks in their backyard. If you’re looking for a little more excitement than your very own Happily Ever After, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Aquatica and all of the entertainment that International Drive provides is located a short 30 minutes away! If you’re looking to venture into downtown Orlando, hop on the FL 429 to the FL 528 and you’ll be there in under 25 minutes.

Let’s be honest- Florida is known for its world class theme park, but also for its white sandy beaches. In less than two hours you can be at Cocoa, Daytona and Clearwater Beaches with a drink in your hand soaking up the sunshine.

Who is Horizon West best for?

Horizon West is the perfect suburban community for anyone seeking a quiet, family friendly environment. Those interested in spending a lot of their free time in the Disney parks will find it especially convenient, but if not there is plenty to explore. The schools are all highly rated by GreatSchools.org, but more are slated to be built within the next five years thanks to the increase in demand in the area. If school aged children aren’t a part of your family makeup, plenty of older residents enjoy calling Horizon West home and taking advantage of a more slow paced environment. Townhomes also make Horizon West a really great place for singles and couples to live and work in the midst of it all! So what are you waiting for? Check out all of the beautiful, tree lined neighborhoods and new businesses the area has to offer!
