A tropical atmosphere, absolutely delicious food, and bright music await at Hungry Pants located in SODO, just south of Downtown Orlando. Hungry Pants has something to offer everyone from the carnivorous meat lovers to the pickiest eaters. They also feature foods that suit a variety of diets and lifestyles such as vegan, vegetarian and gluten free.
The Food
The creators of Hungry Pants, Joey Coincella and Alex Marin describe Hungry Pants as a place for the “plant curious”, someone who is interested in unique and natural foods as well as protein sources made from vegetables! If you love eating healthy but also love comfort food, Hungry Pants has the best of both worlds with delicious foods you won’t even believe are full of veggies.
There is so much to choose from on their menu: sandwiches, salads, noodles, and more are available in a range of different flavors. They also offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. I haven’t tried this yet, but I definitely have it on my list! The Most Delicious Potatoes are my personal recommendation of foods to try, and the Hibiscus Cooler is the perfect drink for the summer.
Natural, Local Wine
Hungry Pants also sells wines by the glass and by the bottle. I spoke with an employee about what makes the wines they sell so unique. Some of the them are local Florida wines, but all are made in ways that make them more “natural”, using natural ingredients, less sulfites, and less preservatives and sugars.
From their suggestion, we tried the Pink Gold wine and it was incredible! From Germany, it is a sparkling Rosé and tasted almost like a sour beer, a unique blend that I am so excited to have again. Along with the wine, Hungry Pants offers cocktails, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks including some craft sodas.
Ambiance
When you walk into the restaurant, you’ll immediately notice the bright colors, tropical theming, and upbeat music that totally sets the vibe for your experience. On the walls, there are pairs of pants hanging up on display to match the name of the restaurant!
Overall
For a unique twist on plant based and healthy foods, Hungry Pants is the place to go. With Pride month right around the corner, Hungry Pants is also a great place to go to support our local LGBTQ+ community, as the owners are part of the community and have designated their restaurant as a safe and inclusive space. There are so many foods, wines, and treats to try, and I can’t wait to sip on their tropical cocktails this summer under the Florida sun!
