By Holley Long

Breakfast just got a little more interesting in Winter Garden with the opening of Maple Street Biscuit Company. The restaurant, which opened in July, will proudly serve the people of Hamlin in Winter Garden, and those who visit this area. Read on to learn more about the restaurant, its signature dishes, and the village it now calls home.

The Restaurant

The Maple Street Biscuit Company got its start in 2012, when it opened the doors of its first restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida. Since then, over 50 locations have opened throughout the country, with 17 in Florida alone. With the addition of the one in Winter Garden, there are now 4 locations around Orlando including in Oviedo, Celebration, and Doctor Phillips.

The opening of the Hamlin location adds one more breakfast and lunch spot for busy commuters and shoppers in the Hamlin Town Center. The restaurant prides itself on not serving “boring” meals, utilizing fresh ingredients to make comfort food from scratch and with a quirky and modern twist.

Inside their newest location, there is plenty of space to eat in with a small or larger party.

The Menu

As the name of the restaurant suggests, biscuits feature in many of the breakfast and lunch dishes on the Maple Street menu.

All of their biscuits are homemade and hand cut, and you can really taste the difference when eating one of their many dishes.

Popular items on the menu include The Squawking Goat, a fried chicken biscuit with fried goat cheese and pepper jelly; The Five and Dime, a chicken biscuit with bacon, cheese, gravy, and a fried egg; and The Sticky Maple, a chicken and bacon biscuit covered with Bissell Family Farm’s real maple syrup.

The menu isn’t made up of only biscuit-based meals, of course. Also served are waffles, a grits bowl, and a salad with chicken and bacon. Diners can also order from a list of sides, including “smashbrowns,” maple sausage meatballs, and fried green tomatoes.

For coffee lovers, Maple Street also serves a number of specialty drinks. The Maple Vanilla Latte and Maple Mocha Latte, both served hot or iced, and feature real syrup from Bissell Family Farm. There are also coffee staples like a regular latte, a cappuccino, and an americano, as well as a self-serve coffee station with some maple themed favorites.

Hamlin/Horizon West

Hamlin is an established and steadily growing village in Horizon West, an area of Winter Garden. Many neighborhoods in Hamlin include resort-style amenities for residents, such as pools, sports courts, and clubhouses. A lot of the communities are also within close walking distance to Hamlin Town Center.

The average home in Horizon West sold in the mid $600’s over the past few months, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Horizon West is not too far from Greater Orlando’s favorite amenities, being just 25 minutes from downtown and minutes from Walt Disney World.
