Modified Character Meet & Greets Return to Walt Disney World

Disney announced that a modified version of meet and greets will be returning to Walt Disney World! Unfortunately, we won’t be able to hug our favorite characters or get their autographs just yet but this is a huge step forward!

Character Cavalcades

Guests have not been able to hug their favorite characters since March of 2020, right before the parks closed down due to the global pandemic. When the parks reopened in July of 2020, many guests were upset to find out that while they can return to the parks to eat their favorite foods and ride their favorite rides, they couldn’t meet with their favorite characters. After the disaster of a year that 2020 was, we all could’ve used a hug from Mickey Mouse…am I right?? Disney wanted to do something to make its guests happy, so they introduced Character Cavalcades where our favorite characters would parade down the street every so often. Every once in a while, you can even spot characters like Goofy, Max, Winnie the Pooh, and yes, even Mickey and Minnie pop up at far away locations to say hello!

Individualized Character Time

Perhaps the best news to come out of Disney this month was that guests will now be able to have individualized time with their favorite characters again. Guests will be able to spend some time with their favorite characters in new locations and even take a few pictures with them rather than have to wave from far away.

The new locations that will have the modified character meet and greets are:

  • Meet the Princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall in Magic Kingdom
  • Meet Mickey in his new 50th Anniversary Costume at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom
  • Meet Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams in Hollywood Studios
  • Meet the Stars of Disney Junior at Animation Courtyard in Hollywood Studios

So when can we hug Mickey again?

As of right now, there is no specific date for when the modified meet and greets will start. All Disney has confirmed is that it will be sometime in November! This is pure speculation, but maybe they will begin around Mickey Mouse’s birthday which is November 18! Character cavalcades, motorcades and parade floats at all four parks will still be offered.
