New Projects in Rosemont and Clermont

With Orlando’s consistent growth, we’ve seen a lot of new development and large-scale projects over the years. Today we’re going to talk about two new projects – one in the Rosemont Community and another in downtown Clermont.

Located just North of Downtown Orlando, the RoseArts District is currently being planned for the Rosemont neighborhood. The first phase of this project was just approved last week by the board, and is estimated at $1 Billion. It will bring 1,600 units in four apartment buildings, as well as 150,000 square feet of retail space to Rosemont.

A lot of the residents of this area are not too pleased about the prospect of a new community, replacing the large lot of land that once was the Lake Orlando Golf Club. Although residents would rather have this area repurposed into a park, this new project will bring a lot to Rosemont. This includes more housing, retail space, and some green space throughout.

With a new community such as this, it will most likely bring more traffic to this area. This is one of the main issue residents are concerned about in Rosemont. However, with as many people as there are currently living and moving to Central Florida, this will bring more necessary housing and jobs to the area.

Darren Johnson, Clermont businessman, owns several businesses in downtown Clermont including Southern on 8th and the Clermont Brewing Company. Although he is not a developer, Johnson has been building businesses for many years, and continues to grow upon his success. He has been investing in Clermont since 2017, and is currently in the planning process of building a hotel and event center in the area.

This plan to develop the land off of Lake Minneola was submitted for approval back in 2020 with good prospects. However, due to the pandemic and other events, plans were pushed back. But that hasn’t stopped Johnson; he still sees a need for this development in the area, and continues to plan with

As we’ve seen over the years, Clermont has begun emerging into a newer area with older buildings being torn down or repurposed into new businesses. With all of this new development, in addition to the lakes and beauty that is Clermont, the potential and interest in this area continues to rise.
