Norigami: Winter Garden's Finest Sushi Sanctuary

By Roger Jimenez

Just a few months ago, the world-famous Michelin Guide recently gave a number of Orlando food spots the coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand award, one of the highest recognitions next to a star, establishing them as some of the top critically-acclaimed restaurants around.

And when it comes to sushi spots, Norigami comes second to none as one of the award recipients - and we can definitely understand why! (Note: Reservations are a MUST as they are booked weeks at a time. Plan ahead!)

Where is it?

Norigami can be found within the renowned Plant St. Market food hall in Winter Garden. The exclusive culinary diamond draws sushi enthusiasts from near and far, offering an unparalleled dining experience among the lively atmosphere of Plant St. Market.

The Atmosphere

Norigami clearly stands out from the rest of the competition as a haven of elegance and intimacy. The restaurant, though located within a bustling food hall, exudes an air of exclusivity.

The ambiance is beautifully curated, providing a perfect blend of modern aesthetics and traditional Japanese charm. The intimate space, with bar seating for only eight patrons, ensures a sense of luxury, making every visit a truly personal affair.

Due to its intimate setting and limited seating, reservations are essential. Walk-ins are rarely accepted, but if you don’t want to wait for a reservation, the same menu is offered for takeaways, making options available for those craving Norigami's culinary masterpieces. (This is what we did as we couldn’t secure a reservation in time!)

The Menu

Norigami's chefs can transform the freshest ingredients into delectable works of art. The menu, although concise, offers a rich palette of flavors that will attract even the pickiest of taste buds. The restaurant specializes only in nigiri, sashimi, and temaki, offering a meticulously crafted menu that showcases the essence of raw elegance.

Guests can choose to let the chef’s take them on a multi-course expedition or to make their own from the menu.

The restaurant's flexibility lets guests order sushi by the piece, in thoughtfully curated selections of five, or in a rice bowl, allowing patrons to customize their culinary journey. While Norigami's focus is on the sushi experience, the menu also features appetizers such as miso soup and edamame.

For our first time, we couldn’t resist taking home some Colossal Shrimp and Blue Crab nigiri. The food is on the pricier end, with some individual pieces coming up to $6, but we can attest to the quality and it is definitely high-end. Absolutely worth the try!

Overall

With a laser focus on top-notch ingredients and an unwavering commitment to authenticity, award-winning Norigami changes the game of sushi. The cultural vibe of its setting coupled with its exclusive limited seating enhances the aura of sophistication and desirability. From the first bite to the last, Norigami promises an unforgettable journey that will beat all your other ordinary dining experiences.
