The History of Norman's

Norman's was founded by renowned celebrity chef and restaurateur Norman Van Aken, who is often referred to as the "Father of New World Cuisine" after being the first to coin the term “fusion cuisine” back in 1989. The restaurant is known for its innovative fusion of Latin, Caribbean, and Asian flavors, which is a hallmark of Chef Norman Van Aken's culinary style.

If the name sounds familiar, that’s probably because the restaurant has been a staple of the community for the last 16 years when it was previously located at the Ritz-Carlton in Grande Lakes until it was sadly replaced. Now, almost 4 years later, Norman’s is back and located at the Dellagio Town Center in Doctor Phillips.

The Atmosphere

The restaurant's interior decor and design adds a flawless look to their upscale and elegant atmosphere. Guests can anticipate tasteful furnishings, soft lighting, and an attention to detail that is sure to create a luxurious dining setting.

Part of the restaurant's bright vibe includes their elegant Terrace, an “elevated and covered outdoor space” that offers full dining among high-top tables and a lounge-style seating area. The Terrace is open Thurs. - Sat. nights after 5:30 PM and guests can enjoy a DJ hosting lively experiences every weekend night.

Private Dining Events

Norman's also offers a private dining experience that reflects the same level of culinary excellence and sophistication as its main dining room. Whether for intimate gatherings, corporate events, celebrations, or special occasions, Norman's private dining events provide a personalized touch that elevates any experience. The restaurant typically offers a variety of private dining spaces, each tailored to accommodate different group sizes and preferences, and can be inquired online.

The Cuisine

The menu at Norman's is on the expensive end and reflects the creative approach used to blend different culinary traditions that create unique and flavorful dishes. With incredible inventions like the Yuca Stuffed Shrimp ($20) and Brazilian-Style Shrimp & Mussel Chowder ($22), guests can expect some never-before-seen meals at this location!

Their main plates are finely portioned and specialize heavily in seafood and fine selections of meat that are sure to give patrons the most refined experience of any night. Some of their highest-regarded dishes include the Sofrito Filet Mignon ($62) and the ‘Silk Road’ Barbequed Veal Chop ($94), complete with Thai fried rice and Japanese eggplant.

For those who have a sweet tooth at the end of their night, Norman’s has a wonderful dessert menu that offers delicacies that can be either eaten or drank. Their sweet offerings range from Dedo de Chocolate ($13) to a Sorbet Trio ($10). If you’re feeling more of an adult dessert, then make sure to try their Affogato Espresso Martini ($18)!
