Parking Lot Trams Returning to Walt Disney World

Disney Parks just announced that parking lot trams will finally be returning to Walt Disney World! Disney took to their Disney Parks Twitter page to announce the long-awaited news. “Driver you are clear…to spread a little holiday cheer!” Disney guests can expect to see trams return before the end of 2021!

When Exactly Will Trams Return?

Trams will be returning to Magic Kingdom later this month and to the other three parks throughout 2022. There is no official date for the return of the parking lot trams as of right now. According to Disney’s website, face coverings will be required on all Disney transportation until further notice. The last time parking lot trams were in operation was prior to the park closures back in March 2020.

Put on Your Walking Shoes

Many guests were upset that parking trams were not available when the parks reopened in July of 2020. They continued to be noticeably absent from the parking lots until recent months when speculation began about their return. Often times, depending on where you park, you have to walk a mile or more just to get to the parks. While the extra exercise is nice, many guests did not enjoy the mile plus walk during the hot Florida summers. Perhaps the best part of the trams coming back, is that you don’t have to walk a long way back to your car after walking around the parks all day.

Tram Service at Each Park

Magic Kingdom parking lot trams take guests from the parking lot to the Ticket and Transportation Center where you then board either the ferry boat or the monorail to get to the Magic Kingdom. The parking lot trams at Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom will take you from the parking lot to the park and vice versa. Disneyland also uses the parking lot tram service but is not bringing it back at this time. The Disneyland parking lot trams would take guests from the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking garages and bring guests to the Disneyland entrance. Every tram car has six rows of seating and can seat five people per row. Trams have the capacity to seat 200+ guests at a time. If you are traveling with someone using a stroller or a wheelchair, they must be able to transfer directly to the tram seating and fold up the stroller or wheelchair.

Pre-Pandemic Disney World

The parks have been slowly bringing a lot of things back during the last few months. It feels like it is slowly starting to return to pre-pandemic Disney World! With the news of Fantasmic, parades, modified meet & greets and now parking lot trams returning, this is happy news for all Disney fans. How do you feel about the return of parking lot trams?
