Phat Ash Bakes Cookie Speakeasy

Some of the best cookies in Orlando are hidden behind a restaurant in the Mills 50 District! One of a kind cookies that are filled with unique toppings are served up fresh by Phat Ash Bakes every Friday. The cookie speakeasy is located behind King Cajun Crawfish, and cookies are available for pickup starting on the weekends.

The Cookies

Phat Ash Bakes has some of the most unique cookies you’ll ever try. They are loaded with toppings, and each so different from the last! One of my favorites was the Sundae Fundae! This is made with an entire brownie baked into the middle and covered with sprinkles, waffle cones, and marshmallows – it was so good! Another favorite was the Cookies N’ Milk. This one is a blue chocolate chip cookie topped with a smaller chocolate chip cookie, filled with vanilla cream.

They also always serve up their classic Phat Chocolate Chip cookie! With this cookie, a portion of the profits are donated each week to a selected charity. The real secret behind these cookies is heating them up in the microwave before you bite in. All of these cookies are delicious as is, however, they become absolutely dreamy after you heat them up for 10-20 seconds in the microwave. They are so ooey gooey and filled with flavor. With so many different types each week, it’s hard to resist trying them all!

The Speakeasy

I was really excited for the Speakeasy aspect of this cookie shop. I’ve only ever been to a Speakeasy that serves alcohol, so finding a hidden place for dessert felt extra special. When you arrive behind King Cajun Crawfish, you’ll find a path that leads to a gate to Phat Ash Bakes. Ring the doorbell on the side of the gate. After this, someone will come and open it to start your cookie adventure.

When you walk in, you’ll see a cookie table to the left. All of the flavors are spread out so you can see what they look like, and what’s baked inside, before you purchase. There’s a tent covering the cookies and the walkway for some shade, and disco balls are hanging to turn up the fun. Don’t worry though, the cookies that you take home are kept indoors! So you don’t have to worry about the Florida sun melting them before you get to take a bite.

Overall

Meeting Ash and her husband was such a pleasure. It was clear that they have such a passion for the community of Orlando, as well as delicious baked goods. As they are just getting started, I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for them. Who knows what kind of unique cookies they will be showcasing next!
