More than 70 breweries and 20 vendors gathered on Jan. 31 to mark the end of Orlando Beer Week with the fourth annual Faded Kingdom beer festival and block party in Baldwin Park. The event was the latest spotlight for the popular community, which will soon welcome business expansions and boasts increasing residential real estate value.

Guests sampled beers from more than 70 craft breweries ranging from local, statewide, and nationwide companies.

Local vendors including Sanford's Upsala Grocery were on hand with food and merchandise booths.

Faded Kingdom is among the community events presented by Tactical Brewing Co. that include Octoberfest, holiday parties, a run club, and its own November birthday celebration with vendors lining the avenue outside its 4882 New Broad St. taproom. Tactical’s next birthday will celebrate a new location, just one block away, with more than three times the space.

Tactical Brewing Co. will move from its current New Broad Street space into the building presently occupied by Orlando Metro Gymnastics.

The new space includes room for additional brewery production, a food hall, and liquor production.

The business will begin the transition into a 12,000-square-foot facility at 4915 New Broad St. on April 1 after current tenant, Orlando Metro Gymnastics, completes its move. The venue will increase beer production with room for additional fermentation tanks, and feature a five-counter food hall with about 8,000 square feet of outdoor seating. Tactical owner Doug Meyer told The Orlando Real the food hall won’t compete with neighboring Baldwin Park restaurants, but there’s still room for plenty of flavor.

“Nearly every cuisine will be represented and there will be BBQ,” he said. “We’ll have the first BBQ place in Baldwin Park.”

Tactical is also in the early stages of distilling its own liquor with a full menu in development for the new location. Myer said the buildout and move will take place in stages over 10 months with Tactical operations stopping for about a week at the end of the process. “We’ll close on a Sunday and reopen the following Friday at the new space.”

A new neighbor

Tactical Brewing Co. isn’t Baldwin Park’s only growing business as the team behind two-Michelin-starred Sorekara, at 4979 New Broad St., are forming a new concept for a neighboring address.

Chef William Shen and restaurateur Johnny Tung opened Sorekara in 2024 with a chef-curated contemporary Japanese tasting menu. The team recently announced the new venue will fill the former home of Colibri Mexican Restaurant, which closed at 4979 New Broad St. after 20 years in business. The new eatery will feature a more accessible menu with a la carte selections and a lively atmosphere.

Details are minimal and a name has not been disclosed, but the restaurant is expected to open by the end of the year.

Home sweet home

Baldwin Park residents enjoy close proximity to the businesses and lakefront amenities of the New Broad Street district, and the numbers reflect the appeal.

According to The Pozek Group, total of 61 Baldwin Park homes were sold over the last six months and the median sales price has doubled since 2020.

Baldwin Park has 21 active listings with condos starting at $455,000, townhomes starting at $625,000, smaller single family homes starting at $699,000, and custom estate homes priced up to $3.699 million.
