A one of a kind bar like I’ve never been to before sits nestled in Thornton Park in Downtown Orlando. The Falcon Bar & Gallery is not only a late night spot to grab drinks and snacks, but also an art-experience, showcasing local art, comics, and even psychics on special occasions.
The Atmosphere
The Falcon Bar & Gallery is one of the coolest bars I’ve been to downtown because it’s so unique! You’ll notice as soon as you walk in the door that this bar has a personality of its own, with local artists’ work for sale on the walls. There’s also hand painted art on the walls to decorate the place. There are an assortment of couches, high tops, and bar stools available to sit in, which really gives the bar a cozy atmosphere.
Towards the back of the location, there is a photo booth on the left hand side, and the infamous Analog Dating Wall to the right. The Analog Dating Wall actually won The Falcon an award in 2014 for Orlando Weekly’s Best of awards for Best Dating Service!
Here’s how it works: the bartender has forms that you can fill out if you’re looking for your special somebody, and you can fill it out to share your likes, dislikes, and your dirty laundry (aka the things you need to work on). Then, you hop into the photo booth to take a photo for your profile and voila! You can hang your picture and form up on the wall and hopefully attract the eye of a special somebody.
Depending on the day you visit, there might also be an event happening, like Tuesdays is Open Mic Night for comedians. We visited on this night and it was so much fun to hear up and coming comedians share their sets illuminated by the art of local artists in the background. The Falcon also hosts ladies nights on Thursdays, which sometimes include a special guest doing tarot card readings!
Drinks & Food
To go along with the unique atmosphere, The Falcon also has a pretty unique drink menu and late night snacks. This bar serves session cocktails, which are cocktails with a lower alcohol content so you can enjoy more than a regular cocktail. I had never tried these before so I was initially perplexed, but they were a really cool way to try different drinks and flavors without going overboard. They also serve standard wines and beers, or get a sweet treat with beer floats or chocolate liqueur cocktails. I appreciated that they had some snacks on the menu like pretzels, kettle chips, and pizza, because it’s definitely important to stay fueled up amidst the drinks!
Overall
For a unique late night bar experience, The Falcon stands out amongst the rest with a fun atmosphere, the opportunity to support local artists, and outstanding drinks! This place had so much to offer, and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Be sure to check out their instagram to see future events and guests, and bring some friends on Tuesday for a night of laughs and libations!
Thornton Park
Thornton Park is a beautiful part of Downtown Orlando that is great for young couples, families, and the young at heart. Brick roads with hanging trees set the tone for gorgeous vintage and new construction homes, set on the same streets of local restaurants and bars. There is no shortage of activities and places to visit in this area, but UCF and the theme parks are only about 20 minutes away for even more adventures. Interested in homes near Thornton Park?
