The Soda Fountain

I’m on a quest to find the best desserts in Orlando, and my voyage this week brought me to an eclectic and delicious ice cream shop in College Park, The Soda Fountain. Here, traditional ice cream scoops are served alongside boozy milkshakes, floats, and sundaes named after famous movies and Hollywood stars.

The Ice Cream

The Soda Fountain will certainly transport you back in time, with its 50s style decor and traditional ice cream creations. There are a myriad of choices to make here! This includes options ranging from single scoops to full on sundaes, and everything you can think of in between! The ice cream flavors were pretty standard and traditional, but a quick glance at their social media pages told me that there are occasionally special flavors on rotation for the week or month.

Personally, I’m a peanut butter girl through and through, so I went for the peanut butter cup sundae. This was made with coffee ice cream, peanut butter sauce, hot fudge, and peanuts, but I switched the coffee ice cream for cookies n’ cream! The Elvis was another intriguing option that caught my eye, with chocolate ice cream, nutella, candied bacon, caramel sauce, and peanut butter sauce. The next time I visit I will definitely get a float or a milkshake, these with fun flavors as well, and even adult milkshake options too. The Almond Joy sounds like a perfectly tropical getaway from the heart of the city, with almond liqueur, vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, coconut milk and shredded coconut.

This shop also has many vegan, gluten free, and sugar free options. So whichever you pick, The Soda Fountain is sure to have something to please everyone in your group.

Doghouse

If you need a savory snack before or after your ice cream, you are in luck! The Soda Fountain shares a location with Doghouse, which serves up quirky hot dogs and loaded tots. I’m not sure if I can describe how insane and intriguing this menu is, with hot dogs like the Tsunami, covered in bacon, jalapeño, pineapple, and garlic aioli. The loaded tots also look delicious, with options like Pizza Tots topped with marinara and mozzarella. This part of the shop also has vegan hot dogs and gluten free buns, and absolutely everything on the menu sounds scrumptious.

Sweet and savory unite at The Soda Fountain and Doghouse located in College Park. This distinctive shop filled with unique and flavorful combinations is sure to leave your tummy feeling full and satisfied. Enjoy all of this within a nostalgic backdrop and a view of the streets of the city.

College Park

College Park is located just on the edge of Downtown Orlando. It is one of my favorite areas in Central Florida for its beautiful 20th century homes, great schools, and short distance to the theme parks and UCF. This area of Orlando is filled with local restaurants, vintage shops, and lakes where locals enjoy paddleboarding and waterskiing! Curious what homes are available in College Park?
