Top Stage Shows at Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World is more than just rides and meeting characters- they also have some amazing stage shows! From nighttime spectaculars to Broadway styled performances, there are so many fun and different shows to choose from. Here are the top live performance stage shows at Walt Disney World.

Fantasmic – Hollywood Studios

Fantasmic is one of the best stage shows at Walt Disney World, in my opinion. The exciting, fun-filled nighttime spectacular debuted at Hollywood Studios (then MGM Studios) back in 1998 and has been a fan favorite ever since. This 25-minute-long show takes place at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater. Due to its extreme popularity, it is best to get there early to ensure you get a seat! The venue is an open-air theater with great views all around!

Use the power of your imagination and join Mickey Mouse as he takes you through an epic journey filled with lots of action, excitement, and enchantment! Sorcerer Mickey will take you along on a dream sequence in this exciting show. This is where you will enjoy music and animation from Disney classics such as The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, and many more! There are also live action scenes, including an epic battle between Mickey Mouse and the evil Maleficent- who turns into a 40-foot-tall fire breathing dragon! In the finale you will see a giant river boat filled with your favorite characters- including Steamboat Willie!

Fantasmic is set to reopen sometime in 2022 and will have all-new added scenes featuring Moana, Aladdin and Frozen! Fantasmic is a great show for all ages! However, if someone in your party is not comfortable with loud noises, fireworks, or darkness (at times), you may want to skip this attraction.

Festival of the Lion King – Animal Kingdom

The Festival of the Lion King is another one of the best shows you can see at Walt Disney World. This show will make you feel as if you temporarily left Walt Disney World property and were transported to a Broadway play in New York City. This 40-minute show is filled with live dancing, music and puppetry all telling the story of The Lion King. This show is also very popular and has limited seating, so it is best to arrive 30+ minutes prior to the show’s start time to ensure you get a seat.

During this amazing show, you will hear live performances of your favorite songs from The Lion King including “Just Can’t Wait to Be King”, “Hakuna Matata”, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” and “Circle of Life”. You will be treated to vibrantly colored and gorgeous costumes, incredibly talented performers, audio-animatronic and costumed characters and much more. The finale of the show is one of the best parts and will definitely tug at your heart strings!

*As of right now, there is a slightly modified version of the Festival of the Lion King at Animal Kingdom called “A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King”. It has not yet been announced as to when the Festival of the Lion King will return but it is likely to be sometime this year!

For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-along Celebration- Hollywood Studios

For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-along Celebration is a fun, family-friendly show that tells the story of the popular Disney classic Frozen. This 30-minute-long show will be sure to have you laughing and singing the whole time!

Take a seat and listen as the Royal Historians of Arendelle tell the story of their enchanted kingdom. Memorable moments play on a giant screen and some characters may come out to sing some hits from Frozen. Don’t know all the words to the Frozen songs? Not to worry- there are lyrics projected on the screen so that you can sing along! This is such a funny and entertaining show, you can’t help but smile and sing along to songs like “Let it Go”, “In Summer” “For the First Time in Forever” and more!

Indiana Jones: Epic Stunt Spectacular- Hollywood Studios

Watch in amazement and excitement as Indiana Jones performs incredible stunts right in front of your very eyes! This exciting, action-packed live show is located in Echo Lake at Hollywood Studios and is about 25-minutes-long. The bursts of flames and hidden traps will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is based on many of the most popular stunt scenes from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. One of the most famous re-created scenes includes Indy’s escape from the giant boulder! There are dangerous spikes, false floors and booby traps that will attempt to slow Indy down as he tries to get away with the famous golden idol. There are also exciting acrobatic scenes, lots of pyrotechnics and even an audience participation segment.

Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage- Hollywood Studios

Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage allows guest to relive the magical tale as old as time in a Broadway-style setting. This 30-minute-long show takes place at the Theater of the Stars on Sunset Boulevard, and will have you singing and dancing in your seats!

The show is a shortened version of the beloved animated classic. Prepare to sing along to songs from the movie such as “Belle”, “Gaston”, “Something There” and “Beauty and the Beast”. Your favorite characters such as Belle, Beast, Chip, Mrs Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth and more will grace the stage. This show will make you fall in love with the story all over again. It is a perfect show to bring guests of all ages to as it is very family friendly.

Overall

Sometimes it is nice to take a break from the rides and see a stage show once in a while. These shows are all amazing and very enjoyable. The songs from the shows will surely be stuck in your head for the rest of the day…or week! What is your favorite stage show at Walt Disney World?
