Available parking is a priority no matter where in the world you travel. As part of its database, WorldAtlas.com has compiled a global top-ten list of largest parking facilities with Universal Orlando Resort taking the No. 2 spot.
Universal recognition
The popularity of Universal’s local parks and their close proximity to one another required a creative parking solution with a large capacity. Navigating the garage at 6000 Universal Blvd. can feel like its own adventure and the expansive space now comes with a worldwide ranking.
While it doesn’t match that of Canada’s West Edmonton Mall garage, which took the top spot and holds a Guinness World Records title with 20,000 parking spaces and a 10,000-space overflow lot, Universal Orlando's parking facility takes second place with a capacity for more than 19,000 cars.
Stats and facts
The parking complex serves Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and CityWalk. The overall structure measures 3.3 million square feet with a vertical clearance of 14 feet, six inches. It’s made up of the five-level North Garage and the six-level South Garage and took three years to complete.
Visitors are guided to the security hub on moving walkways and themed sections help guests remember where they parked. Volcano Bay visitors can park in a dedicated section with access to a complimentary shuttle. The Epic Universe property has its own surface lot by the park.
Disney’s ranking
The Walt Disney Co. achieved a third-place ranking, but not for its Orlando parking facilities. Disneyland Resort’s seven-story Mickey and Friends garage offers 10,250 spaces. The connecting Pixar Pals garage provides an additional 6,000 spaces.
Walt Disney World’s best known parking option is recognized at the No. 5 spot. The Transportation and Ticket Center, aka Magic Kingdom lot, boasts 12,156 spaces. Guests can then access boat, bus, or monorail transportation to the park of their choice.
Additional WorldAtlas.com rankings include the Chicago O'Hare main garage at No. 7 and Dallas Fort Worth Terminal D at No. 10.
