Universal Orlando Indoor Mask Policy Changes

Universal Orlando announced that starting on December 24, 2021, masks will be required at all indoor locations for guests and team members regardless of vaccination status. Fully vaccinated Team Members and guests haven’t had to wear a mask anywhere in the park since May 2021.

Where Do I Have to Wear a Mask in the Park?

Starting on December 24, 2021, everyone will have to wear a mask at all indoor locations. This includes all rides, restaurants, shops, indoor common areas at resorts. Guests must also have a mask on from the moment they enter a ride queue to the moment they exit the ride. Previously, fully vaccinated guests and Team Members had the option to wear their masks at the indoor locations. Universal Orlando also changed their mask rules again for unvaccinated Team Members. Unvaccinated Team Members must wear their masks indoors and outdoors now.

Has Disney Changed Their Policy?

Disney usually matches whatever is recommended by the CDC.Disney World still requires that face masks are worn at all indoor locations regardless of vaccination status. This includes rides, shows, shops, dining locations, resorts and transportation. In an effort to manage park capacity, Walt Disney World has also paused their annual pass sales.

Busy Season

The holiday season is always very busy at both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. With these new mandates in effect, it might affect park attendance numbers. Many people have holiday plans to be in the parks during Christmas and New Year’s. Looking at the availability calendar for Walt Disney World right now, all four parks have openings for park reservations. Just a few weeks ago, everything was sold out. It looks like people may be canceling their holiday plans. Will you be in either Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando for the holidays? What are your thoughts?
