By Yasmene Warren

They don’t call Orlando “the City Beautiful” for nothing. You know it for its bustling tourism industry, but we know it for being home to some of the most stunning homes money can buy in Central Florida. If you've got a $1 Million budget, here's what you can get around Orlando!

Read along or watch the video below for more!

Maitland

Nestled in the outskirts of Orange County and bordering Seminole County is where you’ll find the city of Maitland, which is only about 15 minutes from downtown Orlando via Interstate 4.

This city is perfect for people who love life in Orlando but don’t want to be located in the heart of all the happenings. You’re less than 20 minutes from downtown Winter Park, 30 minutes from the Orlando International Airport, and 40 minutes from Walt Disney World — not too far from all the fun!

Although not inside Orlando city limits, Maitland boasts a variety of million dollar homes as well. Built in 1968, this specific home has a lot of charm to it and includes a half acre of land.

It sits at $949K (reduced on 3/18/24 from $995K) on the market and is made up of 3,400 square feet of space. Features include five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, and an in-ground swimming pool in a covered lanai.

Some of its main highlights include compartmentalized rooms instead of open-concept spaces, a design reminiscent of a time before the 2000's, natural fireplace, and sun room. You’ll find dedicated living and dining rooms, a kitchen with a pool view, and a variety of updated features.

Buying a home in Maitland can be competitive with the average price in the upper $500's, for a home with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The highest can range in the multi-millions, with the lows in the low $100's for a 1/1 condo.

Lake Nona

Live large in Central Florida’s medical city: Lake Nona. This part of town is one of Orlando’s fastest-growing areas with a variety of businesses, restaurants, and especially, homes. It’s in close proximity to the Orlando International Airport, which is great for those who like to travel.

Lake Nona is well known for areas such as Boxi Park and the Lake Nona Sculpture Garden and is home to the popular Wave Hotel. You may recognize neighborhoods like Laureate Park, which is where you’ll find our next million dollar home!

Coming in at $999.9K, this 2021 home boasts five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms on over 3,800 square feet of space with a three-car garage.

On the main level, you’ll find an open layout and primary suite with hand-scraped hardwood floors. Each room has a modern but unique touch to it and offers ample space for friends and families to thrive.

Currently, Lake Nona’s average price for a home sits in the low $800's with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The lows can be found in the low $300's for a 2/2, and upwards of $6 Million for a custom estate home.

Horizon West

If you are the kind of person who wants to be close to Orlando’s fun, then Horizon West might be the right call. Located just 10 minutes from Walt Disney World, Horizon West is another rapidly growing area in Orlando, and this home at just under $1 million might encourage you to add to the growth.

This Horizon West home is nearly 3,600 square feet with five bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and a covered lanai with a crystal-clear swimming pool. On the first floor you can find the guest suite with the remaining bedrooms, as well as a loft upstairs.

The open-concept kitchen and living room spaces are nothing to play with; from the high ceilings and ample windows that add natural lighting to the spacious kitchen island and cabinet space, this home’s setup is stunning.

Home buying in Horizon West averages on the more affordable side compared to Lake Nona, but is still more than that of Maitland. The average price for a home can be found in the low $600's, including four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Reunion

Located in Kissimmee is where you’ll find Reunion, which is roughly 15 minutes away from Walt Disney World. It’s well known for its short-term rentals, but more people are starting to live here full time, and once you see this home, you’ll understand why!

Overall

The average cost of homes may be increasing, but so do their amenities and features. Nowadays we're seeing open floor concepts that include more space for the family, the addition of in ground pools with covered lanais, and other customizable features.
