Will Typhoon Lagoon Ever Reopen?

Back in March of 2020, all of Walt Disney World closed its doors due to the global pandemic. The parks reopened in July of 2020 but the two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, remained closed. Many guests wondered when we would see an opening date for the very popular water parks.

Blizzard Beach

Blizzard Beach got an official reopening date of March 7, 2021. After being closed for nearly a full year, many guests rejoiced at its reopening. Guests were also quick to notice that Typhoon Lagoon did not get a reopening date and Disney never commented on it. Blizzard Beach opened to the public on April 1, 1995 and is celebrating its 25th season this year.

Typhoon Lagoon

There have been many pictures circulating showing an aerial view of Typhoon Lagoon fully abandoned. The giant wave pool, once filled with crystal clear water and guests having the time of their lives, is now completely drained and empty. For months now, people have been wondering when Typhoon Lagoon would reopen, especially now that the covid restrictions are calming down again.

Possible 2022 opening date?

Blizzard Beach is set to close for its annual refurbishment on the day after Christmas leaving people to wonder, “is Typhoon Lagoon going to open in its place?” Disney has not made any official announcements regarding the reopening of Typhoon Lagoon but there are rumors circulating that it will be reopening for the 2022 season. Once Blizzard Beach reopens in the spring- if Typhoon Lagoon were to also be fully operating- it would be the first time in over two years that both water parks were operating at the same time. Here’s to hoping that we will see an opening date for Typhoon Lagoon soon!
