Windermere Farmers Market

by Jessica LaVigne

The Town of Windermere hosts a Farmers Market every Friday between 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, right along Town Square Park. This market includes a wide variety of local vendors that sell everything from produce and bread, to jewelry and flowers. There’s nothing better than getting fresh goods and shopping with local businesses, so let’s check out what each of these vendors have to offer.

Vendors

The vendors at this farmers market are mostly at this location, but can be different every week. Here are some of the small businesses that were seen in Windermere this week.

Mike’s Keto Confections

Candied pecans, almonds, and peanuts are Mike’s Keto Confections specialty. What may be surprising about these delicious treats is that they are all sugar free, keto, low carb, and diabetic friendly. Each nut is coated with a natural sweetener created with Monk fruit, making this a perfect alternative to a sugary sweet.

Pipo’s Latin Food

Serving Empanadas and Tequeños, this food spot has the best latin inspired snacks with handmade sauces. I bought one of the fresh, hot pulled pork empanadas and immediately had to go back for more. If you haven’t tried Pipo’s, you have to during the next farmers market or check out their Instagram to see where they’ll be next!

Homegrown Acres

From natural honey butter and homemade pickles, Homegrown Acres has everything in a jar. If you’re looking for something spicy, they also have about ten types of salsa and pickles with a bit of a kick. Their honey butter is perfect for a cracker or fresh roll, and they also have Duck, Quail, and Chicken eggs – fresh and pickled. Check them out or call them at 352-727-9710 to learn more about their offerings.

Tin Roof Cottage

If you’re looking for homemade jams and pastries, Tin Roof Cottage is the place to go. You can sample any jam to your liking, but I personally liked the Raspberry Chambord Laurel the best. This small company finds the perfect combinations of fruit and other ingredients to create a perfect jam where you can get all of the natural flavorings of the fruit.

Pet Wants

Pet Wants specializes in all natural dog treats and raw hides, all created with parts of animals that we don’t eat including the trachea, beef cheek, and antlers. All large chew treats are either cooked or dehydrated, making it easy for pets to chew without ingesting large pieces. If you’re looking for something a little smaller, they also offer small bags of natural treats made of chicken, berries, and peanut butter.

La Petite Ferme, LLC

This company is run by the de Vreese-Wery’s who own and operate their own goat farm, creating aromatic goat milk soaps and natural skin care products. Once you walk up to the table, you can immediately smell the fresh scents of La Petite Ferme. They offer flower-scented soaps, to others specializing in eczema and other common skin issues.

Flowers and Vegetables

In addition to all of the other small businesses, there are many vendors that offer fresh flowers, fruits and vegetables. Grab a bag or basket and enjoy all of the locally grown products at a great price, available at a number of different tables on either end of the market.

Overall

If you’re looking for something to do on a Friday morning, be sure to check out the Windermere Farmers Market. The vendors come and go, so the market will be sure to surprise you every week with all of the new and continuing offerings. Have you ever been to a farmers market? What’s your favorite in the area?
