Growing up, I always wanted to live in a town with a local bookstore, and when I moved to Winter Garden, I was thrilled to find one with a name I could relate to: Writer’s Block Bookstore.
Writer’s Block Bookstore opened its Winter Garden location in 2020, six years after opening its first store in Winter Park. The store began with the hope of providing a literary community in areas where one was lacking, and it delivers on that everyday.
Books and More!
Writer’s Block fills its shelves with all of the popular and newly released titles, but it also shines a light on the work of independent authors not always found in mainstream bookstores. In addition to books, the store sells gifts like games and puzzles, so you can shop for the non-readers in your life, too.
More than just a bookstore, though, Writer’s Block hosts events to bring together the community. From book clubs to author meet and greets, storytimes to wine nights, Writer’s Block gives bibliophiles a place to gather and make friends with others who have a love of words.
While You’re There
Writer’s Block is located in Downtown Winter Garden, which means there’s a plethora of cafes and restaurants you can visit after book shopping. Read your new finds while sipping a latte from Axum Coffee or a glass of wine at Urban on Plant.
You can even keep the shopping spree going. With the various clothing boutiques and home goods stores in the area, you’re bound to find something to suit your tastes—maybe a bookshelf for all your new reads?
Local bookstores remind us that there is a community to be found beyond the pages of our favorite books. So if you’re on the hunt for a new read or in search of fellow bookworms, stop by the Writer’s Block Bookstore in Winter Garden or Winter Park—you just might find more than a good story.
