Foot traffic filled the streets of downtown Orlando on April 30 for the 32nd AdventHealth Corporate 5K. More than 500 company teams were represented by 13,000 runners and walkers for a 3.1-mile run/walk that began and ended on Robinson Street by Lake Eola Park.

The business of fitness

Held during National Stress Awareness Month, and coinciding with National Mental Health Awareness Month and National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, the Corporate 5K underscores the role of physical activity and connection in well-being and stress management.

“Events like the Corporate 5K encourage people to care for their mind, body, and spirit by staying active, connecting with others and prioritizing their health,” said AdventHealth Sports Med & Rehab Senior Manager Doug Allen.

Community support

Event connections go beyond healthy habits. Social responsibility and giving back have been priorities from day one with Corporate 5K proceeds benefiting Track Shack Youth Foundation. And participants are encouraged to support Second Harvest Food Bank with nonperishable donations and funds.

Healthy attendance

More than 250 company tents were set up throughout Lake Eola Park for teams to gather, warm up, hydrate, and mingle.

Known as "Orlando's largest office party," participating Corporate 5K companies take the opportunity to network and offer event services and give-aways before and after the race. Salon Dulay Aveda participated in its third Corporate 5K with 31 runners and offered complimentary braiding for fellow runners.

Restore: The Mobile Stretch Company was on hand with compression boots, massage guns, and assisted stretching.

Event shirts are part of the race package but teams go all-out producing special race wear to represent their companies.

Runners from CPH Consulting, LLC sported coordinated tutus for race day.

Runners gather at the starting line at 6:30 p.m. for final warm-ups and mental prep. The tension was broken as the race began at 6:45 p.m.

Robinson Street was flooded as runners make their way down the first leg of the race course. They were joined at 6:55 p.m. when walkers entered the course from a staging area on Eola Drive.

On the course, participants are updated on the massive success of their donations to Second Harvest Food Bank.

Emily Davidson of Forum Architecture & Interior Design crosses the finish line as the first-place female with a time of 18:29. Tre Pepper of FedEx was the first place male with a time of 16:29.

A member of the DRMP engineering race team carries on the company tradition of having one runner dress an orange safety cone.

Orange County Fire Rescue was represented by 15 runners; five ran the course while wearing their gear.

High temperatures made the course a challenge but runners took it in stride and finished with pride.

Track Shack's army of 300 volunteers assisted with everything from logistics and set-up to crowd management and water distribution.

Friends, family, and spontaneous spectators gather along the course to provide cheers and words of encouragement.

Several runners finished the course in celebration with some joining hands and cheering each another on.
