Date Night Ideas in Downtown Orlando

By Kismet Kohn

Downtown Orlando is filled with many different date night ideas, including outdoor activities, nighttime entertainment, restaurants, and bars. You could squeeze everything into one day or keep these ideas in the back of your pocket for the weeknights or weekends ahead.

Activities

Downtown Orlando, though smaller than most cities, offers many team-building and romantic activities perfect for a date night! The Great Escape Room is located right off of S Magnolia Ave, where you and your partner can team up to solve a mystery and make your way out of the room using clues. If you enjoy the arts, check out some of the art galleries downtown. This includes the CityArts Factory and Snap! Orlando, where you can take your time and admire the art pieces.

If you’re a fan of classic romance, complete with ending the night on a romantic boat ride in the water, Lake Eola has Swan Boats you can rent with your loved one. If you’re a bit more adventurous, you can climb towering rock walls at Blue Swan Boulders - a rock climbing gym with multiple different courses ranging from beginners to experts.

Entertainment

One of my favorite parts of Downtown Orlando is the SAK Comedy Lab! Here, you can enjoy a few laughs from local comedians with your special someone. They have shows at least a few times every week, each very different because it’s completely improvised. You never know what you’re going to get and sometimes the show calls for audience participation!

If you’re more the type to sit back and chill, check out the CMX Cinemas Plaza Cafe 12 where you can catch a quick flick and a bite to eat. Want to see a show on the stage? The Dr. Phillips Center has over 50+ events planned yearly including plays, musicals, orchestra performances, and more for a perfect date night.

Drinking and Dining

If you’re a foodie or enjoy going to new bars, check out Mathers Social Gathering, SkyBar, and The Boheme. Mathers Social Gathering is a beautiful speakeasy hidden in a library. In order to get in, you have to ask the poet at the entrance for the instructions. Once you’re inside order one of their specialty cocktails and enjoy the social setting. SkyBar is a good place to go if you want to look over all of Orlando. It’s almost as romantic as looking out from the Eiffel Tower (almost). The Boheme is a specialty restaurant in Downtown Orlando, offering a diverse menu and an incredible atmosphere. The art is modern and the food is delicious!

Overall

Don’t worry about coming up with a date idea because Downtown Orlando has you covered! There’s no wrong choice when coming up with a location or activity because no matter what it will be unique and shared with your loved one. If you like combining multiple activities into one date, Downtown Orlando is definitely built for that!
