We finally have some new details about Universal’s newest theme park - Epic Universe, including the names of all the upcoming themed worlds, as well as some construction updates and progress towards their 2025 opening date! Are you excited yet?
The Portals to Each Land and More!
We already know that the park will include various lands from Super Nintendo World to the Ministry of Magic, but what more do we know now? Universal has finally released some more concept art for the portals to each of their four lands, as well as the main entrance to the center of the Epic Universe - Celestial Park.
Celestial Park: The Main Hub
The central plaza that will connect all the “portals” to Universal’s new magical worlds in this ambitiously massive theme park spans across seven acres, and will be overflowing with gardens, waterways, and walkways with the intention of “putting the park back in theme park.” Guests can expect to feel like they're on another planet, one with architecture from space and beyond, with acres of living nature inspired by astronomy and mythology.
Celestial Park is where all the fine dining and fun shopping will be done, making it the perfect spot for the whole family to have a good time while they wait for that certain attraction or busy park to die down. Universal states that visitors can expect over 50 new experiences scattered throughout the exciting new world, guaranteeing that guests will be able to fill up their jam packed itinerary with plenty of activity!
New Dining Experiences
One of these brand new dining experiences just announced is called Atlantic, and is described as a “full service restaurant set inside a Victorian aquarium”, guaranteed to wow guests with delectable food and stunning views of Celestial Park while dining in an unforgettable location!
Guests can also expect an exciting experience at the brand new Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant, a spot that promises a journey across Asia as they will offer authentic Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine, all in one place! Other food spots that were recently announced include an Italian pizzeria called Pizza Moon, and a barbecue joint called the Oak & Star Tavern.
Attractions
At the center of the park will be Astronomica, a giant “interactive water-play” attraction that also functions as a compass that will guide guests to the other themed lands in the park!
Celestial Park introduces two captivating attractions, each promising an unforgettable experience. The Constellation Carousel, a family-friendly ride, offers a mesmerizing journey on a constellation that “glides backward, forward, and executes 360-degree rotations to a choreographed dance and music”.
The second ride that has been announced is called Starfall Racers, a 62 mph rollercoaster ride that speeds along 5,000 feet of track, reaching heights of up to 133 feet! Epic Universe is now calling it their “most thrilling coaster experience” and we can’t wait to try it out!
Super Nintendo World
Just one of many of the upcoming Universal worlds, Super Nintendo World will bring to life the beloved universe of Nintendo characters such as Mario, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong! The brightly colored portal will lead to a land that will be similar to that of the theme park that recently opened in Japan.
For the attractions, we can already see the themed buildings coming together with the iconic Nintendo bright greens, and ride vehicles installed on the new Yoshi ride. The portal has not fully been built out yet other than the arch and beginnings of the pipes on top, but the perimeter of the land has been built, and we can see the progression of most of the buildings throughout.
Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic
Adding another magical dimension to the iconic Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the Ministry of Magic will transport you through a portal topped with a pillar showcasing a golden hand holding a wand.
The entrance to this area is already in place, and many of the buildings are coming together, with scaffolding still in place to construct all of the magical details.
How To Train Your Dragon: The Isle of Berk
From Dreamworks' beloved How to Train Your Dragon franchise emerges a new immersive world known as the Isle of Berk. This land of lore will include dragons (of course), and various attractions and restaurants catering to the beloved movie. The entrance portal is set on a hill, with torches and a metal dragon at the peak, setting the mood for the viking themed land.
This area is one that has progressed a lot already, with the portal in place plus various attractions and themed decor throughout, from the mountain-like structure (possibly home to the land's restaurant) to the enormous viking statues at the center.
Dark Universe
While details surrounding Universal's Dark Universe remain sparse, the final world promises a spooky experience for the whole family, focused on classic cinema villains and monsters, sure to immerse guests in a realm of myth and mystery. Some attraction and restaurant/food name speculations include Pretorius’ Scientific Oddities, Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, and De Lacey's. You can read more about these in one of our past articles here!
UNIVERSAL HELIOS GRAND HOTEL
Epic Universe’s new main resort will be located at the end of Celestial Park and is called the Universal Helios Grand Hotel. This one of a kind establishment will contain 500 rooms, offer guests stunning views of the park, and will even have its own dedicated entrance into the theme park, giving guests the ultimate exclusive experience.
The main structure of the building has been built already, as well as the base of the main water feature located at the back of Celestial Park and the buildings that will compose the lands adjacent to the hotel.
