Farmer's Market at Lake Eola

by Yasmene Warren

Sundays are for the boys, the girls, and just anybody looking to get up and get out with Downtown Orlando’s weekly farmers market at Lake Eola Park. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., you can shop among a variety of vendors for fresh food, apparel, art and more!

The Vendors

The Orlando Farmers Market is a one stop shop for all things handmade. Some of its vendors include…

Nani’s Treats & Sweets

“Satisfying your sweet tooth,” Lisa Perez has been selling sugary goodies at the Orlando Farmers Market since March of this year. At Nani’s Treats & Sweets, each cookie is homemade and hand decorated. Perez had cake slices, cookies, and even cake pops. For this holiday season, she brought out homemade gingerbread men, hand-decorated Grinch and Santa cookies, and even has a “paint your own” gingerbread house kit!

YouAdore

Ashley Brewer is the proud business owner of YouAdore, a clothing company selling high quality clothing designs. Brewer began selling at the Orlando Farmers Market earlier this summer. Her business goals are to “create a life YouAdore!”

Brianna Wicks

You’ll never have to worry about how good your home smells ever again once you start buying your candles from Brianna Wicks. Brianna Alford has been making hand poured soy wax candles since 2020, and this Sunday was actually her business’ two year anniversary — just in time for market day! Alford began selling at the Orlando Farmers Market earlier this year, and she has a variety of candle scents, including a citrusy one named after Orlando’s very own “Orange Ave!”

Pet Wants

The Orlando Farmers Market really does have a little bit of everything for everyone! Business owner Bianca Suarez started her pet treat business Pet Wants three years ago and has been selling at Lake Eola for a year. Suarez makes freeze-dried treats for both dogs and cats and even has cans of “dog beer!”

Flourishing Cousins

Chely Russie makes it her mission to bring the best greenery inside your home. Russie has been marketing Flourishing Cousins at the Orlando Farmers Market for a year and a half and specializes in growing indoor plants. More recently, she has been trying her hand at growing succulents and plant arrangements.

Community Is In the Air

Downtown Orlando saw a full house Sunday at Lake Eola Park! Tents were lined up on either side of the pathway, and dozens of people flocked to them once the clock struck 10. The swans were swimming, the birds were chirping, and excitable vendors cheered “Good morning!” as you walked past their booths. As Christmas music played faintly in the background, families, friends, and even pets partook in the life that each local business brought to the city.

The History

Orlando has held its farmers market since 1987 when the Downtown Development Board wanted to create an accessible means of shopping for those living in the downtown community.

Initially located under I-4 across from Church Street Station, the market has since moved locations twice due to an increase in traffic and in 2004 made its new home at Lake Eola.

How to Become a Vendor

It could be you pitching a tent and promoting your brand on a Sunday morning, all you have to do is apply!

The Orlando Farmers Market has a $30 usage fee each market day for a 10x10 booth space.

The market doesn’t accept just any business, however. The product categories it does not accept include: informational/promotional items, charities/fundraisers, screen printed apparel, franchises, commercial products, electronics, mobile food trucks, and drop-in/ one-day vendors.

Overall

The Orlando Farmers Market at Lake Eola Park truly serves as a little slice of what makes Orlando whole: its community. What better way to bridge together the people of Orlando than with a Sunday filled with fun, family, and new experiences?
