Florida Citrus Tower

When you think of Central Florida, you might not think of skyscrapers or towering buildings. However, the Florida Citrus Tower comes pretty close at a whopping 226 feet, over 22 stories! At this location, you can travel up to the top to take in the views of Central Florida. You can also grab an orange-themed coffee and pastry at the coffee shop downstairs, or learn about the history of Clermont!

The History

The Citrus Tower was built in 1955, and opened the following year. According to their website, it is meant to be a tribute to Central Florida’s citrus industry. It was originally planned to be 75 feet high, but was completed at 226 feet tall – wow! When you reach the top after riding up the elevator (which by the way is an over 50 second ride), you’ll find the observation deck, which shows you a panoramic view of Central Florida. This is complete with guides directing you to where different cities and theme parks are located through the view.

Many people had brought their drinks and snacks from the coffee shop to the top. Here, you can eat and drink while soaking up the landscape around you. There is a small cost to travel up the elevator, so keep that in mind when you visit. Enjoy the sights when you reach the top!

Coffee and Citrus Snacks

At the ground floor of the Florida Citrus Tower, there sits an adorable coffee shop featuring delicious citrus-inspired beverages and snacks. They have house made Orange Cream Lattes for the espresso lovers, and for those avoiding caffeine, their Orange Butter Creme citrus cooler offers a refreshing beverage that tastes similar to a creamsicle. They also offer citrus sodas like Olipop and San Pellegrino, and yummy pastries are displayed on their counter. I tried the citrus berry muffin, and it was delicious! The ambience of the coffee shop is also very relaxed and cozy, with different tables set up like vintage living rooms. There are lots of comfy couches and chairs to sit in. Whether you are studying, reading, or watching a movie, the coffee shop offers a homey atmosphere for you to enjoy.

Florida Citrus Tower is definitely one of the most unique experiences you can partake in while in Central Florida. The views from the top are absolutely stunning, and the coffee shop below offers delicious citrus-inspired goods and a beautifully decorated space to enjoy.
