April showers bring May flours… wait, that’s not how that goes! At Gideon’s Bakehouse, May is jam-packed (literally, you’ll see in a second what I mean), with cookies and cakes bursting with flavor. These new May flavors will be sure to make your mouth water!
We’ve talked about Gideon’s here at The Orlando Real before. But for a quick refresh – Gideon’s Bakehouse is an Orlando bakehouse that serves up nearly half pound cookies, and cake slices that are double frosted and full of yummy delights. They have two locations, one at East End Market in Audubon Park Garden District, and one at Disney Springs. They have classic flavors served the majority of the time like chocolate chip, cookies n’ cream, and triple chocolate. However, every month they also serve up a signature recipe that you can only get for a limited time.
What Flavors are Coming?
This month, Gideon’s is serving up peanut butter delicacies with their Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl cookie and their Peanut Butter & Jelly cake (ah, now the jam makes sense!). We visited East End Market to try out these new flavors and both were a hit with my family. Even my dog wanted a taste of the peanut butter frosting!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl Cookie
First up is the Peanut Butter Chocolate Swirl Cookie, described as peanut butter dough swirled with triple chocolate dough and topped with peanut butter and chocolate chips as well as candied peanuts. If you’re a fan of peanut butter and chocolate, I highly recommend checking this cookie out. It was incredibly delicious, and the chocolate tasted on the darker side so it wasn’t overpoweringly sweet.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Cake
The Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake is actually a new creation! It is described as three layers of vanilla cake with peanut butter buttercream and grape jelly. At first, this combination may sound a bit strange, but it was so good! It tasted like a sweeter version of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and the slice we purchased was consumed almost instantaneously.
Overall
If you are a peanut butter fan, this month’s flavors at Gideon’s are must tries. With summer and pride month right around the corner, we can’t wait to see what flavors and creations Gideon’s will be baking up next. Which of these flavors are you going to try?
