Island H20 Opens for Spring

By Holley Long

Are you ready for Summer yet? After closing for Orlando’s “cold” season, water parks are reopening across the city, including one with an interesting twist.

Island H2O

Island H2O opened for its 2023 season on March 10. The water park offers a unique time for guests with its social media theme and interactive features. With the H2O Water Park app, you can check out wait times, earn points to use for discounts, and choose the music that streams across the park.

Island H2O encourages guests to post about their day at the water park, making it easy by having some attractions capture videos during the experience. By syncing a park-provided wristband to the app, you can tap in at each attraction and later view your photos and videos in the app feed—then share them out!

Now Open!

With Island H2O now open, you can enjoy all the water park’s attractions, from thrilling slides like the Live Streaming vertical drop ride to more restful spaces like Private Domain, a relaxing pool area open to adults 21 and over. New this year is a limited-time pop-up “Selfie Spot Beach,” where you can get photos with pool inflatables and other beach-themed items.

Hungry? You can grab lunch (including vegan options) from Megabytes or Apps & Eats, and grownups can get an adult beverage from Tag Shack. And if you’d prefer to have your meals and drinks delivered to you, you can rent a cabana for the day, which comes with food and beverage service, refrigerated water, and lounge chairs.

General admission tickets start at $59.99 for adults and $49.99 for children. See yourself visiting Island H2O a lot this year? The season pass might be a better fit. Right now, it’s on sale for $69.99, and, if you buy a Family 4-pack, the cost per pass is $64.99. Season pass perks include unlimited visits in 2023, free parking, discounts, and more.

There are also special events including the Island H20 Egg-Stravangaza from April 8-30. Find eggs around the park and win special prizes, all included with admission!

Sunset Walk

Island H2O is located on Sunset Walk, an entertainment district with fun restaurants, shops, and live music. After a long day at the park, stop for dinner at one of the many dining spots, or, if the water park thrills weren’t enough, check out the Sunset Walk Slingshot, 240-foot adrenaline ride that is sure to get your heart racing.

There’s a Target close to the water park, so if you forget anything (sunscreen, towel, etc.) you can grab it quickly from the store. But if you want to head straight to the water park without any stops, Island H2O also has the Mementos shop where you can get essentials, too.

Overall

Spring Break is right around the corner, and if you need to get the kids—or just yourself—out of the house, Island H2O would make for a great way to spend the day. But don’t sweat—the water park’s season won’t end until November 26, so you have plenty of time to enjoy some fun in the sun.
